Manek,
The band was medium sized I would say - 3 trumpet players of which the African-American player was the best & he was given 2-3 solos to do.
3 trombone players, 5 sax players - 1 alto, 1 barritone & the remaining tenor sax, 1 piano player, 1 drummer, 1 guitarist. So, that makes it 14 band members!
They played a variety of stuff most notably a few Duke Ellington tunes (that I am not familar with) & some Fats Waller tunes. I had the program booklet but I have thrown it out now!!

I certainly will encourage them.
Bruce Hornsby is coming to town in July & maybe these boys will open for him?

BYW, I did go & see Spyro Gyra in concert yesterday. It was a superb concert. The drummer was totally out-of-this-world. He was given several solo opportunities & each piece was better than the previous. In 1 solo, the band leader said that they were all going to go off-stage & were going to turn the program over to the drummer. He totally rocked the place!! Standing ovation from all 1000 people attending!
The band was in the lobby after the concert & I had 3 members autograph my "Best of Sypro Gyra" CD liner!
Very cool indeed! A famous group, churning out CDs for 30 years but yet so humble & accessible! I like groups like this - their success has not gone to their heads.

I am an ardent Floyd fan, but for some reason, have never got down to REALLY listning to the Division Bell, even though I bought the CD ages ago.

Thanks for the reminder... will certainly dig it out ....

Pink Floyd is my all time favorite band..haven't listened to any other band as much as I've heard them...with or without Syd/Roger, I simply love what they've created

IMO, 'Wish you were here' is their best album musically and 'The Wall', a cult Classic.

By itself,'Dark side of the moon' is a superb album, also well engineered.

'Meddle' is another great album I like, proved Floyd can move on without Syd and with 'The Division Bell', I didn't miss Roger..

A psychedelic experience on 'The Piper at the gates of Dawn' could never be matched on their subsequent albums..

Did I forget to mention 'Animals'?

I like:

Division Bell - Pink Floyd
Who's Next - The Who

I have not heard Jethro Tull but I would like recommendations about their best albums which I could blindly buy & listen. Is "Aqualung" the one?

During the last few days I have been listening to the best of Lobo, Smokie & Roxette.

Well put...i didn't miss Roger Waters in Division Bell either. High Hopes is such a great song.

Need to listen a bit more to 'the piper at the gates'. only heard it a couple of times.

Well Manek, he's a kinda Jazz Missionary. Whenever he sings Satch converts a lot of people to start listening to Jazz.

Anyway, did you know that this song is actually an anti-racist song? The whites keeps saying that they're the real ambassadors of American culture when actually it's the African Americans. This track was apparently written by Dave Brubeck and his wife.
