A sequel was immediately announced and scheduled for June 3rd, 2016.

The first film told the origin story of the turtles and introduced Shredder. And according to director Jonathan Liebesman and producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, the sequel may head to Dimension X, where the villainous Krang is from.

"I would love to," Liebesman said about going to Dimension X. "I mean it's not up to me. It's up to all of us to decide." Form added: "But we've talked about those worlds already."

"There are scripts that have been written for this movie that integrated those worlds into it already," Form revealed.

... Fuller also spoke about the upcoming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" sequel, which will be released on June 3rd, 2016. "We're in prep right now. We start shooting in New York in April," he said, adding that both Bebop and Rocksteady will be introduced in the film. "We designed and we did lots of work on all of them and then only so many fit in the box and luckily we have another chance to make another one of these movies and some of those characters that got cut out of the first one can make it into the second one.
