Nicht dass es furchtbar interessant wäre, aber DVDO hat klammheimlich diese (oder letzte?) Woche den

DVDO iScan Mini

veröffentlicht. Kostet $299 (Strassenpreis gute $220), hat einen HDMI-Ein- und einen Ausgang, skaliert auf 4K (in 60Hz, aber mit 4:2:0 Farbauflösung) und ist auch sonst gegenüber allen bisherigen DVDO Prozessoren deutlich abgespeckt. So gibt's z.B. kein Deinterlacing und auch sonst wenig Kontrolle über's Bild.

Nachdem 1080i doch immer noch der Broadcaststandard ist, frage ich wen das eigentlich ansprechen soll ?

Die einzige Option, die ich im Manual finden konnte und weshalb ich den Mini mal testen möchte ist die "anti-ringing" Option, die ja dann praktisch gegen die DVDO-eigene Scaling Engine arbeitet

Intressantes Statement dazu:

It’s a pice of shit chip in a box….no de-interlacing, crap scaling that adds ringing ,so they add a (band aid) filter to remove the ringing…they recommend you use it with a duo or edge in front of it…but then you can’t actually send 4K through it..complete waste of time…..

Mein Fazit war:

Conclusion: It's hard to give a recommendation. Obviously the iScan Mini isn't a newly developed product. It's basically just DVDO's pattern generator with a few added features. Processing power is limited and DVDO already confirmed that more complex features (from overscan control to deinterlacing) are out of the question. The raw scaling is good (not so good for graphics, but great for videos and movies), but it's the same as it was 5 years ago and 4K upscaling is really just necessary, if your brandnew 4K TV set sucks at scaling (but why did you buy it then anyway). On decent 4K sets like a Sony, the gain in quality is minimal and doesn't warrant a purchase. The lack of features, lack of deinterlacing and lack of any other inputs make me wish DVDO didn't use the "iScan" tag on this one. For video game use I don't see who could benefit from the Mini. Buying a DVDO Edge at the same price gives you a multitude of possibilites and options instead.
