I have been watching some members(won't want to name any)since i started out on this forum.
all i have seen from thenm is talk talk and more talk.
there is hardly any action.be it purchasing new equip or tweaking of their existing system.
The thing is , i have seen very little talk which has been sincere.
i see many forum members asking the quetion'how much' more than the number of times they use vowels!.
the fact of the matter is a lot of pointless talk about very high end equipment has taken place with almost nil genuinely interested parties.
I suggest u fix up ur budget(keep a 5 to 10% increase in it) and go out looking for components which fall in that particular category, instead of boring me with the same old questions about how good that was and i would have bought it but i could not as it costs more than i spent on my wedding.

well, i suggest we stop with the bullshitting and get into real technical matters instead of getting into the same old'how much' and 'waht's ur budget' kind of sissy questions. by now we are all very educated as to how much a particular speaker costs than the way it performs.

enough topics have been started regarding to these questions and they nearly cover the entire audio spectrum price wise.
in future please go thru the old posts since they still hold water and stop killing me with this $hit.

Cheers,
Ben

Dear Benks,
I normally keep quiet - since am an absolute novice to the world of hi-fi. But you have brought up an interesting point....Here's how the Merriam Webster online dictionary defines 'Forum'
1 a : the marketplace or public place of an ancient Roman city forming the center of judicial and public business b : a public meeting place for open discussion c : a medium (as a newspaper) of open discussion or expression of ideas.
Based upon this, here's my two cents ...
Can u control a market? Yes. But does it makes sense? Very little ! Yet governments and other centers of power, in their rather short sighted nature, try to do that, often with disastrous consequences.
Can you control a discussion - yes. Does it make sense? In case members grossly misbehave, it does make sense for the moderator to control them. Otherwise, people who dont have much to say will in any case be ignored, the moderator need not throw them out!
You said - "we are all very educated" ? Who are we? A coterie of people in the world of hi-fi for several years? People often do have severe financial obligations, yet they want to indulge. And ofcourse there are people who are new to this!
This is the market, its as much an opportunity to gain information as it is to buy, sell and display your wares (equipment? you as a brand? I say both!) In a market, there are trusted sellers, big buyers, and new comers. There are also the passers-by, who come in, and may and may not buy anything! Doesnt make sense to shut the gates - the market will die in no time!
"stop killing me with this $hit". If that is your view - I suggest you walk right out of the $hit and have a lot of fun !
Thanks for your patience!

all i am saying is that the same questions have been repeated more than once and at times tree to four times.
i suggesst they search the forum before they post the same queriers. because this type of question is very common it makes sense to look into the archives of the forum and if still unable to finsd the info they wat they can post a new topic, but if they do so again and again gets a bit on my nerves and hence the muted participation froom my side.

an mohan, am not hitting on everyone.....
just that we need to start discussing more technical stuff and broaden our knowledge and try to get into the science that has gone into the beauties that help us relax and let ourselves go for that precious moment.

Hey Guys,
I like Gassing. Whats wrong with that? Isnt that what we are here for anyhow. I am not obliged to have to be buying anything to justify my presence at the forum. Id love info on tweaking so long as its cashless and I am not really into techspecs either. I think we are here to talk and share about the kicks we get from our kit and music. To my mind someone with a modest well-done kit is as interesting as a big $$ man. As for getting Serious.. No Way... I am not serious thats why I am here in the first case. Think of the money I have blown on audio rags over the past 20 years! In any case, serious people can be a bore. Audio is an enjoyable hobby or indulgence for most of us. Lets do what we like doing and let others do what they enjoy best so long as we are friendly. I dont see why anyone should feel obliged to crack a whip on what to discuss.

Again, i stress the point that much has been talked about the prices of different components and can be referenced by looking into the archives of the forum..
alll i am saying is that why do we have to go thru the same discussion again and again when already very comprehensive dialogues have taken place regarding the same.
Cheers,
Ben

p.s can u please explain 'serious'.
i too am here for the fun.
but i derive fun by learning something new too. so doe'nt mean when we talk technical its not fun.
remember some of the most technical things can be a lot of fun(mainly due to the arguments and counter arguments).

Hey benks,
This is just a forum. Cool it. If you find some posts which are meaningless, just ignore it as lot of experienced people are doing right now. Also know the fact that the net is populated with lot of people who do not have any idea whatsoever about hi fi. So when they want to buy something or gather some knowledge, they might post something which might seem ridiculous to you but this is a free world and that is how people learn. Do you know that at least 90 percent including me on this forum are just learning? The art of hifi is a black art and most biggies on this forum just smile when they see most of the so called good posts. I would suggest you identify the kinda people who you want to hang out with and indulge them only.
Budgets and the "best bang for the money" are what most people are worried about and naturally they will post. Do you actually expect a newbie to search the forum and find out answers for his specific request? People have lots of other things to do dude..:)) As for tweaking and mods, most hardcore tweakers and mod guys in Bangalore don't even visit this site. Tweaking and mods are for people who own systems which satisfy them to a reasonable extent. What about people who are still searching for that good stuff?
I agree that some seriousness is needed but pls don’t expect that from a newbie because he is still learning.

Benke,
Now I think youre having fun!
On the matter of tech specs. Audio is a bit like music. I dont have to be able to read notation to enjoy Mahler and well I dont know the theory about ragas but do enjoy them. I too like reading tech specs even though I dont know what they mean. But believe me I can tell the differences between pieces of kit when I listen to them. At least that is what I like to believe.

Hi Ben ,
I share a 50:50 opinion to the topic raised by you.
You are right is saying that in discussing things like "how much" etc, the core issues/topics are not delt with.

But place yourself in a novices shoes and see the picture. A novice will feel that this is one of the best places that he can consult before investing about 40/50k for a system. So, he asks all the possible questions which he feels is right.
And such questions can irritate experts like you.
I can understand your situation.

But the best way is to ignore that topic and dont get into the discussion. People who are interested in the topic will answer the question and others who are not interested wont.

I dont think anyone here on the forum wants to intentionally posts topics just for the sake of it.

Cheer up Ben....and lets keep things moving.

hi Ben,

So far as discussing pricing...it's the first thing every person wants to know and this would again happen in future. If you are so concerened about discussing price then why did you prefer NAD from dubai than getting it at 22k here.didn't discussing it help you out to save a huge sum..and if you happen to know by other members contributing it helps to buy it from the right person.I too agree there are some really stupid posts but can't help it. what if guys like bigears and others disregard your posts if they have to think in your dimension. So boy learn from people and educate who need your help. Just venting out your frustration at this tender age will harm you once you are outta college and into work .There you are gonna meet more stupid guys and you can't dare your as* to open your mouth....
