Hi,

Anyone heard this model in Jamo. It seems E750 is an EISA award winner.

Please share your views on this.

Yes. As of now I have auditioned a mixture of floorstanders as well as bookshelf speakers..Monitor Audio Bronze B2, Mordaunt Short 904, Def Tech Bookshelf speaker (I forgot the model), Quad 11L, 12L.., KEF iQ3, and some old models KEF Cresta 30.

To me Quad 12L sounds superb...and as of now I feel Quad 12L to be best in match with Marantz PM7001 and have to audition Jamo E750 and 770.

The other option I have is NAD C320/521 with Cadence Arita, CA Azur 640A/640C with Dali concept 6 but I have not heard these two setup since I am in chennai

In this budget you could listen to these speakers:
1. Wharfdale Evolution 30 (very nice speakers)
2. Kef iQ5 or even Q5
2. Jamo E855 (I liked them much more than E750)
3. Epos M12 (I am not sure of the model number)
4. Polk Lsi8 bookshelves

There are others like Lyrita Audio and Corrson, but they are not available directly for audition in Chennai.

I wonder if Viren could help set up an audition with an owner of his speakers in Chennai?
Do listen to them, if you can.
I was very impressed with them.

I'd probably add the Monitor Audio Silver RS6 as well if you can find it. Heard from a friend in Hyderabad that its selling for around 47 grand.

Sorry, no customers of mine in Chennai yet.

There should be be one in Bangalore soon - with the Integre and Harmony One's. Will let you know when he's ready.

A friend of mine did a home demo of these E855 speakers. He got the Jamo guys to bring them to my home and did a comparison with the Acoustic portrait MS301 and the AP’s beat it in every department. Frankly there was no comparison. I still remember the embarrassed sheepish grin on the jamo sales guy’s face.

in terms of involvement i would say that the diamond 8.4 would beat the E855s too..comparing to the MS301 is almost scandalous

Very true.
I had upgraded to the MS 301 from the diamond 8.4 and I would say the 8.4 is a better speaker than the E855 when it comes to balanced sound. The E 855 sounded “etched” if that is the right word.
The D series from Jamo is a different story.

Possible....but I didnt go that far in commenting because, I havent heard the Diamonds and the Jamo with the same rig. But as you said, Jamos can be beaten by 8.4 in many departments....but then Jamo does have traits which can impress a different guy...so lets not..

Vpriyan, looks quite particular about the products that are directly available in chennai and with good after sales service....so I resisted myself from reccomending MS-301

I am not familiar about Acoustic Portrait..

Can anyone throw me some light on this brand and the cost of MS-301...

Is this speaker comparable to Dyns then why this is not popular? How about comparing with Cadence?

Aha !
That smiley gives you away !
You really should host an audition for the B'lore guys when your Harmonys arrive, tell 'em to bring their music along with some beer, and hear what valves/hi res speakers can do to the music.

most certainly!

music from whoever is coming. beer and sandwiches from my side. by the way the amp is here so if anyone wants to lug their speakers over, most welcome! or if you have a car and can pick me up i'll come over. high db speakers would be preferable. 89db and higher. this beaut is 15 pure watts of bliss. biased high into class a.

for those of you who want to know what it can do it has seduced the girlfriend into saying hmmmm for this kind of sound its worth having a dedicated listening room with room treatment. eat your hearts out ye solid state guys

hehe wicked wicked man. i auditioned the kefs though and the multiple crossovers i think waste the amps power. so the sound is not as loud. had to turn the volume all the way up. the kef iq5s 88db sounded anaemic. the kef iq9s 91db sounded much louder but still wanting. no distortion though

floorstanders welcome! though you'd be disappointed with the sound quantity and quality if the sensitivity is low and if the driver material is stiffer or if there are many crossover units involved.

sounded much better with mordaunt short ms 902i

i must add here that anyone who thinks valves cant do rock are very very mistaken. it nails the tone so perfectly deep purple, floyd, tull, dire straits. never heard them sound like that before.

I suppose we cannot blame Valves for not doing rock....with the right speaker Valves should be able to do rock well.
But since rock fans like it real loud and dynamic and Valves output normally are within 30 watts, could be a limitation. But nvertheless, I still believe, with the right speakers Valves can do rock well
When are your Harmony1s arriving ? We could meet then.
