Every Friday there are post on this forum of Indian audiophile asking / promising to meet up.

However there is almost always an excuse and the weekly (proposed) meet is put off to the next week.

Unless I am missing something, only the Mumbai Audiophiles have met .... ONCE, that too at a restaurant for lunch.... and not to listen to music.

Once in all these months ( with about 10 attendees ) is hardly enough.

The other cities seem to have done worse...

I was wondering... Are Indian Audiophile Un-Social ?

We (hardly five), Bangalore audiophiles had a nice eyeball chat a month back . The next meet may take place soon. As rightly pointed out by you, the will is lacking. I don’t know why? It may be due to procrastination or the fear of removing the mask.

I doubt that..as most of the members are well known except for some scary ones

I think its more to do with seriousness...
It also has to do with Prioritising things. It looks like one thinks of attending a audio meet only if he has nothing else to do

That is not right IMO. Audiophile is just not about having good equipments or having golden ears...its about how seriously you take audio....may be the Indian audiophile community is a bit immature..Period. I am not sure..hence dont crash upon me.

IMO there are less than 15-20 active members on this forum mainly from 3-4 cities.
Unless there are 100-200 active members it will be difficult to have a quorum.

a lot of it i guess boils down the simplest motivation - content. what do u do when u meet?

if its simply to chat i'm sure not too many people will take the trouble to break their plans which involve in many cases their better halves, even those who are not yet married ;).

plus weekends is the only time one gets to oneself after a week of work. so does one go a long way to meet guys u anyway chat/ discuss things with online?

i think ampnut it was u who suggested sharing music. guys for next weekend's bangalore meet, no matter how many guys turn up, lets bring at least 3 cds of different genres or 3 different artists. we can perhaps copy stuff for each other? that would be a big plus i think besides of course abhi's plinius and dynes

and the snacks

no question of being unmasked and tales of unmasking ..I'm going to very soon unmask the misdeeds of one greedy specimen in disguise of good samaritan..

That is not right IMO. Audiophile is just not about having good equipments or having golden ears...its about how seriously you take audio....

Not true buddy.. we hardly enjoy our set up and we hardly have time too for our own music sessions and talking of prioritising it has to be done in a wise manner..

except for some scary ones

Like whom dude???

Jeeves it's good to have selective ones handful than have repulsive ones in hundreds and I'm soon going to eliminate some..

hey! since you write only about unmasking are you into same???

Whats not true
Is it not true that Audiophile is not just about equipments but also about seriousness towards audio ??

I wrote this piece of statement because I have come across people who have good equipments and act like an audiophile but actually are far from it. They dont bother about audio much, such meets (the ones being conducted at Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai) wont even bother them. They listen to Western Classical and Jazz because thats what audiophiles listen to etc etc. I can go on and on...

As amp_nut has put it...such meets are not for critical listening or something, its just about socializing and trying to have a community of like minded hobbyists.
Listening to good music requires a lot more isolation IMO.

That is what we need to do in first place.. I mean we long for good hifi and when we have it.we don't have time for it... and talking of audiophile is not meeting and drinking coke..it's enjoying music in purest sense...
