ARITA is the smallest loudspeaker in the Cadence range and is a compact bookshelf with a performance that defies its size. ARITA is famous for its precise imaging, sound staging, neutrality and above all musicality.

Build, fit and finish:

ARITA looks very attractive with its well-proportioned body, clean lines and smoothly curved surfaces. The whole cabinet is made of 25 mm thick MDF to minimize the cabinet resonance. A 4 mm layer of REAL wood veneer (in mahogany or teak) is provided on all surfaces to give Arita that extra rich look and feel. The quarter-round fillets further provide a soft and smooth contour to all edges.

With 14.2 Kg each Arita is fairly heavy, well braced, damped and can easily pass the knuckle test with flying colors.

Overall the fit ,finish and build quality is World class!

Inside story:

Arita has two driver units. The Ferro-fluid cooled titanium dome type Tweeter is sourced from Vifa while the 7-inch bass unit is from Eton. This Eton bass unit has a ‘super fast’ cone, which comprises a sandwich of one layer of Nomex between two layers of Kevlar, providing rigid and quick-reacting piston-like motion. Termination is through a rubber surround. Both drivers are set flush into the front baffle.

The crossover network is designed with extra damping components to produce seamless integration of the system, and is linked with Van Den Hul (VDH) cable to very robust WBT terminals recessed low down on the back panel.

The reflex-loaded enclosure is lined with absorbent material and is braced near the middle and at the corners.

The silk-covered grille covers almost three forth of the frontal area, leaving the two reflex ports as a clearly visible feature.

NOTE: Arita comes with only one pair of speaker terminals so bi wiring is not possible.

Floor spikes are screwed into the base with help of large locking nuts and are reversible with a flat end for floor surfaces, which might be damaged by the sharp points.

Cadence Speaker stands:

These aesthetically pleasing and sturdy like a rock speaker stands are specially designed and tuned for ARITA to attain maximum synergy between these two components.

These are not an ordinary pieces of wood but believe me a lot of engineering has gone into designing these stands. I don’t think any after market stands could match to these stands on quality and performance. After market stands might save a buck or two but at the cost of synergy.

These stands are so beautiful that as a stand alone entity they can serve as a nice pillar post to grace some nice brass/copper artifacts (antique)!


Performance:

Well after owning ARITA for last 18 odd months I can go on and on praising these babies but I restrict myself only to some salient features and weaknesses.

Strengths:

·Top notch build quality at par or even better than many leading international brands.
·Precise timing, Very neutral and non-fatiguing sound.
·The sound quality is unbelievable, especially live and natural vocal, with breath taking details.
·Very detailed mids and highs with tight and accurate base response.
·Crystal clear from top to bottom with quick transients, pitch-black silences and very wide soundstage.
·Bass is fully articulated, natural sounding, fast and controlled.
·The front-facing reflex port allows a location quite close to the rear wall if required, and the wide dispersion characteristics make inward angling less critical.

Last but not the least:

·Extremely musical and emotionally touching

Weaknesses:

None!

However,

·Some may find its bass lacking ear-catching thumps.
·With 86-db sensitivity, ARITA need slightly higher power with some good quality upstream electronics and really come alive when cranked up.

Final Words:

Arita is the Winner in every respect. It’s a great value. The clarity, imaging and realism of the sound, everything is beyond compare at this price.

Speakers are purchased from Oceanic – Pune in Oct 2006.

Why it is on Sale?

I have upgraded to Cadence ANINA hybrid electrostatic floor standers.

It is really sad to let go these cute Arita babies, it is rare to find anybody selling Aritas, in almost all cases, people even after upgrading to something else keep Aritas perhaps to build a nice HT system or small system in a bedroom; but unfortunately I am not that affluent, I need the cash for the upgrade.

Original box: Unfortunately the original cardboard carton got damaged last year due to unexpected heavy rain. But I will provide some good packaging while shipping the unit.

Age and Condition of the speakers:

Just 18 months (purchased in Oct 2006) old and in MINT condition! The plastic on the speaker stands is still on.
