Looking for Winged C 6L6GC tubes

Any pointers on where i can get them from ?

I tried B3amplifiers.com and he only has NOS tubes..

actualy if you do have any reliable local tube suppliers any contact would be great!

these are available in the US and in Hong Kong but am scared about shipping in tubes...

Me thinks you have more probability of finding good el34's than 6l6 here. I think your leben amp can use el34 albeit at lower output by a few watts.

Which brand tubes come with the stock amp ?

Good new old stock tubes would not be a bad idea if you get a good set.

Importing them into bangalore is a bad idea now, look what happened to siva's tubes.

HI Manek, the 6l6s are supposed to be the based with it...although EL34 is also good but more "bloomy" ..apparently the KT77 (genalex Reissues) are the best with it but they do not come cheap.

it comes stock with Sovtek 6l6GCs which are also ok. i have around 30 hours on them in the past few days now.

I second that.
If B3 amplifiers has a set of NOS ECG Phillips 6l6gc/7581A tubes try and get them.

I have a quad of these tubes which I tried in my Quad II/II amps and found them to be very good.

The 6l6 tube and its variants was used in quiet a few cinema amps .So try the older cinema equipment supply shops or old cinema equipment techs.They usually have Nos 6l6 tubes or they will source it.The younger guys will have no idea and are not interested in trying to locate the tubes but if there is an older person in the shop he will be willing to help you.

Thanks Rajiv..from what i could find out from other Leben users the SED 6l6GC or the RCA black plates are the most preferred over stock.

the next options is to get Siemens EL34s which B3 amplifiers said they will try to get for me..so am waiting for their response

I remember reading a do's and don't's list for leben amps for tube rolling...check on that for 6l6 variants.

Did u buy the leben here ? If so your dealer could help.

Now how to find those old cinema guys ? They would be around 70+ and possibly out of business/work.any pointers ? The last time I saw a shop at lamington rd many moons ago with old valves in their window, I asked about availibility and service people and they said "sab buddha ho gaya" !

Bhagwans source from lonavala may be an option.

no there was no dealer in india when i bought it..so had to do it directly from Japan. in fact they were asking for my inputs for a dealership they are signing up/finished signing now.

I do have all info on what all tubes which can work..given a choice the Genalex KT 77 reissue is the best but its too expensive to buy just for trying out..

Hi,

The best way to get in touch with these guys is to go to one of the older theaters or a cinema spares supplier in your city and ask them for their service engineer.

These service engineers either work for a cinema equipment supply company or are freelancers.The freelancers are a better bet, as they are very well networked and most of them have at some point in worked with Westrex/Photophone(RCA)/Klangfilm/Gaumont Kallee and the other big names in cinema equipment.
