hello,
i connected the nad to my diamond 8.4s yesterday.
but now father says that every time he needs to switch between the receiver and the Nad he'll have to disconnect and reconnect the cables at the speaker end.
now, my diamonds are biwirable and hence has two terminals.
i was wondering if i can connect both the receiver and the amp together to each pair of terminals on each speaker.
is tis safe?
will, it work.
what happens if both the receiver and the Nad are on simultaneously.
will i destroy my speakers by doing so?
please advise

Benks,

DONT EVER DO THAT!

If you turn both the NAD and receiver on together, well, your Dad will have to make an unscheduled visit to Dubai very soon.

Get a selector switch which allows you to switch between different connections. This will however degrade the sound a little.

Or, use Banana plugs at the amplifier / speaker end, whichever is more convenient.

thanks guys.
that's what i told my dad.but, he insisted that i find out more.
i actually am using banana plugs on both sides for exactly this purpose.
well, he thinks after having spent all this cash he shouln'dt be made to get up from his sofa and that the equipment should figure it out all by themselves.
i saw the speaker selector swithches from niles and the one that suites my needs is 60$. well, i'm not buying that.
anyway, he finally agreed to let it be the way it is.
well, that solves this problem. now all i've got to figure out is the subwofer.
thanks again to all

Benks, assure your Dad that he is right in thinking he shouldnt get up from the sofa for such a trivial thing.

Then, tell him about those great new speakers you've just come across, the ones which have been designed with just the NAD 320BEE in mind....

'cause I never run my amp and speakers at the limit so I dont need clipping correction, that also eliminates a few components out of the sound signal path.

Manek.
