good graphics card for computer

Folks,

Can you recommend a good computer graphics card...below 10k...i'm completely confused looking at the numerous options available.

Hi

I have always been a fan of asus motherboards and graphics cards. Phenominal combo for speed. Don't know what your application is but if it is 2d graphics, or multi monitor environment any nvidia chipset cards would do, even the oem varieties.

Gaming changes the equation.

Colour accuracy would mean a completely different ball game.

What's your application ?

All depends on what you wish to achieve. I'd say stretch your budget a wee bit and get the DX11 ready ATI(AMD) Radeon 5850.

I'll game sometime...... but i do not need killer graphics.

Main Objective : The PC that i'm currently putting together should be compatible with software that come up in the next 3-4 years...including the new windows 7.

Some-thing in mid-range would do ..

Windows 7 is a bit lighter on resources than vista. Atleast the beta seemed so. They have finally listened to their customers a bit and done some optimization.

My gutt says a entry/mid level graphics card using either nvidia or ati chipset would do.

Not about its availability in Bangalore but in Mumbai its available for around 9500 from what I heard from a friend. DX 11

If you intend to keep the system for a while, it definitely is. It has lots of interesting new things that aren't possible in previous gen hardware. Expect the API to not change much atleast in the next 2-3 years.

I second ROC. Keeps you future proof with games atleast. New shaders and interesting stuff for games...

Ok .. i took ur advice and called up the shop.

Suprise, they had a cheaper alternative with DX11 support...5750 and 5770. I took the 5770...Rs.11,300 + VAT 4 %.

I think the biggest advantage with this new series is very low power consumption and very little fan noise.
