Today I downloaded EAC (Exact Audio CD), probably the World's Best Audiophile ripper software for CDs, and the Best Part ... Its free ! Well, I am sure that most of us know about, if not actually used it. The point of this post is that Finally, EAC-1 has been released and is a very nice, User friendly improvement on the earlier 0.9XXX versions released past few years. EAC-1 now will automatically search and remember Not only the CD Tracks ( and earlier feature) but will also locate the Album Art and also provide a choice of searching for small medium & large art files. All this info is remembered and automatically brought up the next time you insert the CD to play or rip it in EAC. If ripped, the Album Art is also saved in the ripped folder so that ( my other fav software) Foobar will display the album Art if used for playback. All in all, a worthwhile upgrade over the earlier version. Seems EAC-1 has been released on 15th Nov 2010. |

Thanks for the pointer, Arj. Though my primary software platform is Windows, I do have a dual boot iMac which I use occasionally. Will certainly check it out, looks interesting, especially the creation of cue files . I MUCH rather prefer cue files rather than breaking up the rip into individual track, which destroys the CD.... |

Hi, I usually use Clone and Make a ISO file of the CD to be copied,I prefer this over EAC Flac,APE or any other Compression !! Me thinks this is better then trying compress and decompress the whole thing in which there might be a loss !The Best part of the Clone Cd is,it reads the disc in RAW mode and doesn't go into the details of whether its audio cd or not (although there is a feature which you can select)! In Raw it reads the bits and writes them as they are,so what you get is a bit perfect master ISO file. This ISO can be played using any Virtual drive or burnt onto a disc ! Well that's me and that's how I do things !!Regards. |

I agree, Soundsgreat. Creating an image file is the closes you can get to a bit perfect duplicate CD. It disadvantage (IMHO) is that the image file is not playable by audiophile software feeding a (high quality) external DAC... That is why I prefer the 2nd best ... a wav + Cue file which can also be burnt on a CDR as an image. |

The only problem I have with these CoverArt software is that the coverart is stored in a folder and then accessed upon demand. I use a MAC and love COVERSCOUT. This write the coverart to the file and is stored as MetaData. And the coverart goes along when you transfer files to another computer. http://www.equinux.com/us/products/coverscout/index.htmlI think MAX is great as well but I have failed to split an audio file into a folder structure using its MetaData. I use WINE for medievel cue splitter. I use FOOBAR through WINE to transfer audio files to a proper structured directory.... Thanks HP [Beitrag von herculepirate am 11. Jan 2012, 15:26 bearbeitet] |

i use dbpoweramp (www.dbpoweramp.com) which uses AccurateRip (www.accuraterip.com) Database to verify the ripped Tracks are error-free. 38$ is quite a bargain in my opinion. it has lots of features like multi-cpu-core support or a Multiencoder which lets you rip to different formats at the same time. I use it to rip to mp3 (256kbit vbr) and flac simultaniously. ripped nearly my whole cd-collection now (close to 1000 cd's). for my dvd-audio i use DVD Audio Extractor (www.dvdae.com/) to rip to high resolution 2-channel and multichannel flac. |
