If you have wooden flooring, then get 3 metal cones (ideally brass) and rest them on that ..points down

I use brass too. I put it under the existing legs.

Should be easy to find in a hardware shop.

I do this :

Half inch cork sheet, black stone tile on top of the sheet, brass legs on the blick tile.

Saachi,
the best that I have heard is a 2" slab of slate stone. Place the amp on the slate & spike the slate to the floor using brass cones. Brass is excellent for draining vibrations, slate is excellent for reducing or eliminating vibrations due to its inherent crystalline structure.
You can see this in use at Jochen's place (for all of you in BLR who have visited Goolimangla over the years).
You should be able to get a slab from you local stone mason who does kitchen countertops, etc. They often have reject pieces &/or odd size cut pieces from jobs they have done & the left-over pieces are no use to them & they can sell that to you cheaply.
Another good solution that I use presently uses Home Depot/Lowe's Home Improvement 12"X12" granite tiles in a sandwich - 3/4" hard maple followed by granite tile followed by another 3/4" hard maple slab. I use cork sheets in between to damp the granite. Spike the sandwich to the floor using pointy/sharp brass cones. Looks nice with the light/dark contrast. I had all the material hence I made the sandwich otherwise I would bought the slate slab.

tring to locate a 16 x 16 slate slab that is 2 inch thick. ..only seem to see tiles that are about 3/4 inch thick..i suppose i could stack 2 or 3 of them and sandwich the cork like you have if i can't find a single 2inch slab.

b'walla...how do you have your brass cones installed on your sandwiched stand? Are the tiles and cork mats sandwiched and just resting on the cones or do you have double sided sticky tape?

sachi, i have found a small gob of blue-tack enough to hold em as long you have the cones setup straight. my guess is that on carpetted floors it will be pretty stable.

just resting on the cones.
for a carpetted surface, as long as the cones are perfectly upright (by ensuring that the large flat surface is making complete contact with the bottom surface of the amp (or any) stand) the vertical weight vector + friction will ensure that the cones do not slip.

yes, this is a good way to secure the cones. works well even for hardwood/marble floors.

you'll have to visit a granite/stone shop that installs kitchen counters or even a landscaping shop. they might have scrap pieces lying around. At Lowe's & Home Depot all you'll get is 12X12 3/4" granite tiles.

will have to go visit a home depot. I've never been to one all the time i've been here

Only ever go to rockler or woodcraft.

Also i spoke to a local mason who said he might have a few scrap pieces lying around..so we'll see. I might consider spending a 20-30$ and getting it smoothened and polished.

Hey deva!!! you are in NJ in the winter time doing photography! What are you photographing - bare trees? Canadian geese? cracked roads? piles of snow?
Snap out of it, Arj!! You won't be in NJ too much longer - you need to get to CSA Audio & sample some their wares.....
Think of Kaa (from Jungle Book) with his hypnotic eyes staring you down & saying "Go to CSA Audio, Go to CSA Audio....."

home depot doesn't seem to have 2 inch slabs of slate. They do have 3/4 inch tiles. Stacking 3 of those might just do the trick i think but i suppose i will need to buy that cork mat too that B'walla is using. I know i should be able to find a single 2 inch slab of slate..but no one gives a damn about a guy buying a one off scrap piece

sadly you are correct. I had the same difficulty & resorted to what I did.
The cork mat is important 'cuz granite inherently rings (which you do not want while slate does not) & the cork mat is used to damp/eliminate that ringing. The ringing manifests itself as a brittleness to the overall sound.

well looks like one stone vendor has a 1 1/4 inch thick slab of slate for like 25$ that he can cut to 16 x 16 inches.

I am going to go with a single slab of this. 35mm thick slab should easily handle up to 150 pounds. My amp only weighs in at 75-80.

yes, I would take up this offer from this stone vendor. the price is reasonable & yes, it should take the weight of your amp.
