Doctor Sahib,

Book your flight tickets right now.
Visit Mumbai from the 7th to the 13th.
There are 4 concerts.
You must attend all 4.
This is a chance of a life time.
You will never get to listen to them all together in 1 place at a ticket less than 200 euro's per show & that too will be sold out before you can get your hands on it.

I am serious. Plan a trip to Mumbai.
The concerts start on the 7th & finish on the 12th.

Stay here for 7 nights & attend all the shows. Also some audio auditioning [not that it will be anywhere close to the performance] would be possible - we not not be in a position to offer much [no super set ups are there], but you are most welcome ! Please do come.....
This is a chance of a life time......

Come visit Mumbai - stay for a few days here. Visit the audio shops / dealers / distributors.

Go to Pune - Listen to the Siltech speaker. Visit a few 'audio homes' here. Attend the concerts -
This may be one of the 'better' concerts that may happen on this planet. Now I just wait for the programme - eagerly & get ready to spend a night out side the ticket office [my peon may have to indulge on my behalf] !!

This is truly a 'golden chance' all forum members should come. Stay in some club for 7 nights. Make an audio vacation out of it.

Hey nice pieces being played. They are common but many of them my favourite.

Actually this could also be a great opportunity for first timers as the music is not too heavy.......anyone looking for an initiation into classical music, one will be able to hear it in ots full glory at both concerts.

Placido is my dads favourite.

Tickets open ?

Hi All,
Where could the tickts be available? How much would they cost. I suppose I would need to take a bank loan? Is its possible for one of us in Bombay to find out the details.It would also be a nice chance to meet up. The show sounds like a fantasy. Although mind you none of the big names - barring Mehta perhaps are in their prime. Even then, its a gift from the gods. Sorry, BHAGWAN!

Sir,
I am in no position to comment on that;
I am in no way an expert on "Western Classical Music"
I go with folded hands & listen to what is offered to me;
Simple.
I too am waiting and 'begging' for tickets !!!

Our own Orchestra, "The Symphony Orchestra of India" is in the middle of its fifth season and what a transformation they have undergone over the past two years. It has developed a "soul" and they can now communicate. May this endevour last a lifetime and may it spread its music to the other cities too!. Meanwhile, hope and pray to manage tickets for the October fiesta. Food for the soul.

Got my Tickets - 4 of them for 4 programmes.
Will post details soon...
Really very happy !!!

Looking forward to 7th October for the concerts to begin....

My Seat Numbers :-

07.10.08 = R 36
09.10.08 = T 22
10.10.08 = N 22
12.10.08 = M 23
Most tickets are in the 'middle'
The 'Best' seats [row 5 to 15] were taken by the 'sponsors' and hence were not on the 'block'

There also seems to be 1 'small' private evening scheduled for 'sponsors' & 'donors' @ Rs. 300/- K for 10 PAX with a 'sit down' dinner @ Taj with the IPO.
Shall post details as they get to me.
I am not to be a part of this - sad I know;;;

Hi !

I do not know if I will get 'pelted' for saying this....
But, to me - this show was 'average'
There was no 'drive' in the performance.
To add to that the entire 'horn' section had gone to 'sleep' in # 9. I was most disappointed.
This along with 'Pictures' [to be played on the 12th] is some of the 'best' pieces of classical music that I love & I was very disappointed. Sorry. Do not throw stones at me for saying this....

If I may say - this played like a Nad 320 BEEE !!!

Hi,

Sad again isn't it, that we have been so spoilt by hi-fi sound.

So much accuracy, and realism, in those fabulous high-end home audio systems!

No No Sir !

It was not about the sound;

I was talking about the performance

What a 'let down' !!!
I cannot describe it to you;
Wish you were there to experiance it.

J. B. Hall - I know well by now.
Must have attended 35 ++ concerts there & N.C.P.A. Tata Theatre 150 +++ concerts. So it is not about the room or the hall or the audio or the acoustics.
Here, I was just commenting on the musical performance.
The IPO & ZM just did not have that 'spark' yesterday.

I went there with such high hopes - & except for the opening piece was 'nice' but the Beethoven 3rd ok & the Dvorak 9 was below par !!
[please do not stone me for saying so] !!!
