Jethro Tull - Stand up (Steven Wilson Remix)

Tull’s fine reissue programme continues Jethro Tull‘s second album, 1969’s Stand Up will be reissued in November as a three-disc set, featuring new Steven Wilson mixes and a wealth of bonus material. Dubbed ‘The Elevated Edition’, this new version of the album comes in the same book-style packaging as other Tull reissues of late and a very cute touch is the fact that they’ve included the ‘pop-up’ element which came with the original vinyl. (see image above). This is a 2CD+DVD set and the first disc features the new Steven Wilson remix of the album, plus Living In The Past and Driving Song (A and B-sides of the non-album 45), some rare single mixes and a few BBC Sessions. The second CD includes eight tracks performed live by the band at The Stockholm Konserthuset on 9 January 1969, and for good measure gives you the original single mixes of Living In The Past and Driving Song, along with a few radio spots. The DVD contains Steven Wilson’s new stereo mix in hi-res 96/24 PCM stereo, and his newly mixed surround sound version of Stand Up (dolby digital or 5.1 DTS). The DVD also includes a 96/24 flat transfer of Stand Up from the original stereo master tapes, and flat transfers of both the stereo and mono versions of Living In The Past and Driving Song. Finally, there is some bonus video footage on this otherwise audio-only DVD from Stockholm 1969. Stand Up: The Elevated Edition will be released on 18 November 2016.

George Michael - Listen without Prejudice Vol 1

George Michael´s second solo album, 1990’s Listen Without Prejudice, Vol 1, will be reissued across a number of formats in November, including a 3CD+DVD super deluxe edition box set. The super deluxe will comprise the original album remastered, a CD of the audio of George’s 1996 MTV Unplugged performance (remastered), a bonus disc of B-sides, mixes and rarities and a DVD of UK TV’s Southbank Show special from 1990. This set comes with a 36 page book featuring liner notes, photos and memorabilia from George’s personal archive. Best of all this super deluxe is really well priced at only £34 in the UK at the time of writing. Less than HALF the price of The Human League set, which is the same 3CD+DVD format!! A two-CD edition includes the Unplugged performance, but omits the bonus disc of mixes/rarities (and the DVD of course). This ’25th anniversary’ (it’s actually been 26 years) is also being released on vinyl, too. All formats are out on 11 November 2016.

3CD digipack with hype sticker, 36-page booklet with tracklist printed on an insert between digipack and cellophane. A seminal, incredibly influential hip hop release (also regarded as pretty much the last word in instrumental ‘trip hop’, a term used a lot at the time), Endtroducing is simply one of the defining albums of the 90s. It is famously also the first record ever made entirely from samples of other people's records – with a particularly broad array of sources used, many mined from the catacomb-like basement under the artist’s favourite record store in Sacramento, which has long-since closed its doors. This is the store pictured by photographer B+ on the album cover and in many other shots included in the package. Endtroducing is 20 years old and to celebrate this milestone DJ Shadow has re-opened the sessions to personally curate a further bonus album of remixes by a carefully selected roll call of electronic music luminaries, which he has christened Endtroducing Re-Emagined. I was honoured to be invited by Chicago to remix their classic second album from 1970 earlier this year, and this has now been announced for release on CD on 27th January by RHINO / Warner Music Group. Here is the official press release: More than 40 years after its debut, Chicago II still sounds like nothing else. Released in 1970, Chicago's second album brims with confidence and inspiration as it draws on everything from orchestral music to heavy rock. Although it never affected the record's popularity - it peaked at #4 on the album chart and spawned a trio of Top Ten hits - many fans have longed for a more-nuanced mix. That wish is about to come true with a new stereo version created by British musician and producer Steven Wilson. CHICAGO II: STEVEN WILSON REMIX will be available January 27 on CD. The newly remixed album will also be released as a double-LP set later next year. Chicago II has been remixed before, but never like this. For the first time, a stereo remix from the 16-track multi-track tapes made it possible for Steven Wilson to bring out elements that were muffled or submerged in the mix. The result is a new stereo version of Chicago II that boasts clearness, punch and definition that it didn't have before. Wilson explains: "Working with high-resolution 96K/24 bit digitally transferred files, I had every element from the recording sessions isolated, which meant I was able to rebuild the mix from the drums upwards, recreating as closely as I could the equalization, stereo placement, reverbs, other effects, and volume changes of each individual instrument or vocal - but at the same time looking to gain definition and clarity in the overall sound." In 1969, Chicago recorded the band's follow-up to their debut album, Chicago Transit Authority (voted 2014 into the Grammy Hall of Fame). When it arrived in January 1970, Chicago II became an instant sensation. Principal composers, James Pankow and Robert Lamm, emerged further as the band's source of Top Ten hits for the group, including "Make Me Smile" and "Colour My World," as well as "25 or 6 to 4," which peaked at #4 and has become one of the band's signature songs. Terry Kath, Robert Lamm, Lee Loughnane, James Pankow, Walter Parazaider, also Danny Seraphine and Peter Cetera ... somehow found time (while touring the world behind the success of "CTA") to prepare another double LP album. "So rich was their creative seam at the time that, like their debut, and the album that followed this one, it was a two record set," says Wilson. "In fact, with unprecedented boldness the run of double albums was only broken by their fourth which was a quadruple (live) set! I consider all of these albums to be classics, but perhaps Chicago II is the pre-eminent masterpiece. It's got everything: moments of tender beauty to power riffs and scorched-earth jazz-rock, catchy melodies and gorgeous vocal harmonies. When I first heard it as a teenager I was captivated by the mixture of jazz, blues, pop, classical, progressive and heavy rock styles, including both improvisational elements and intricate arrangements, and by songs written and sung by several different members, all with their own unique personality. How could that possibly hang together?! But it does, and brilliantly so." The album, which was certified platinum by the RIAA, soon after its release, also highlighted some of the band's most ambitious work, such as the 13-minute song cycle "Ballet For A Girl In Buchannon," composed by James Pankow, as well as "Memories Of Love," a Terry Kath song, arranged for orchestra by Peter Matz. Chicago's lasting musical impact was recognized in April of 2016, with their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Four-disc package includes mono mix on CD and rare live audio The Doors‘ 1967 debut will be reissued as a four-disc, 50th anniversary super deluxe edition in March. This large-format 3CD+LP package will feature a remastered version of the original stereo mix of the album on CD, the mono mix (remastered) on CD for the first time plus a live performance where the band perform most of the album at The Matrix in San Francisco on 7 March 1967. This is sourced from the ‘recently discovered’ original tapes. The vinyl LP features the remastered mono mix. This new edition comes as a 12″ x 12″ hardcover book and features sleeve notes by David Fricke, along with rare photos etc. This 50th anniversary deluxe of The Doors will be issued on 31 March 2017.

Golden Earring - the Complete Studio Albums (29 CD Box)

Legendary Dutch rockers Golden Earring see their long career celebrated next month with a 29CD Complete Studio Albums box set. All 26 studio albums are included in this box, from their 1965 debut Just Ear-rings to 2015’s The Hague. Three bonus CDs with non-album tracks (such as That Day, Sound Of The Screaming Day, So You Want To Be A Rock’n’Roll Star and L.A. Woman) complete the collection. The band have always been enormous in Holland but flirted with international success in the early seventies thanks to the popularity of their 1973 single Radar Love (from the Moontan album) which was a sizeable hit in the UK and America.

Golden Earring Box ist wahrscheinlich kein neues Mastering. Red Bullet macht alles billig, neues Mastering wäre zu teuer. Und komplett ist eigentlich "fast komplett". Ich habe 100+ CD's von Golden Earring, aber das werde ich nicht kaufen.

Da steht ja auch "Studio Albums" und das sind alle regulären 26 Studioalben plus die drei CDs mit Non-Album Tracks. Irgendwelche Best-of Compilations und Live Alben wurden nicht berücksichtigt, somit ist der Titel berechtigt und auch richtig.

Auch andere Sachen fehlen, zum Beispiel "Big Three, Blue See" USA Version 1974, Gimme A Break (Rock Version), From Heaven From Hell (B-Side 1974 Version), Kurze Versionen von Twilight Zone und Radar Love, usw, usw.

Fleetwood Mac - Tango in the Night

Warners will issue a five-disc super deluxe edition box set of Fleetwood Mac‘s 1987 album Tango in the Night in March. The set will feature three CDs of audio, comprising of a remastered version of the album on disc one, B-sides, demos, alternate versions on disc two and 14 remixes on the third CD. The fourth disc is a DVD which contains promo videos and a hi-res stereo version of the album (rather than a 5.1 mix). A vinyl edition is also included with the super deluxe edition. This reissue is scheduled for release on 10 March 2017.

Die wird wie die anderen drei vorher auf jeden Fall in meine Sammlung kommen

Okay
dann werde ich die mir mal gleich ziehen ob sich der Einsatz lohnen wird.
In HiRes kommt die dann bestimmt auch noch raus. Auch da werde ich dann nochmal zulangen.
Oh je das wird wieder ein Monat für ein Album.
Und dann noch der Aufwand die LP zu rippen, so zum direkten Hörvergleich. Muss ich aber zu einem Bekannten dafür. Ich haber gar keine Plandrehmaschine für Vinyl.

P.S. ..genau eine "alte" HiRes Version habe ich auch schon - nur welches Mastering von WEA weiß ich nicht...

Paules Box Set von der Flowers In The Dirt kommt mit 127 Teuros glatt zu teuer.

Eine echte HiRes Version wie bei den ersten Remaster seiner alten Alben (HDtracks USA) in 96/24 und "unlimitierter Dynamik" gibt es nicht.
Es gibt wohl "nur" eine 16/24 Version, und wohl auch nur bei HDTracks USA.

Sie gehört aber IMHO musikalisch nicht zu seinen Meisterwerken.

Wieso? Ist doch schon seit Monaten (tatsaechlich seit Herbst 2016) in Deutschland vom Hersteller angekuendigt, beiAmazon und jpc, Saturn zu Bestellen, und hier auch im hifi-forum (# 18521) angekuendigt.

Das stimmt. Angekündigt ist die Box schon lange. Aber scheinbar wird die Veröffentlichung immer wieder verschoben. Ich hatte schon bestellt, aber wieder zurückgezogen, mal warten, wann sie wirklich kommt. Ausserdem ist der Preis schon eher am oberen Ende

Ist mir irgendwie komplett entgangen. Immerhin hat der Post die Diskussion über gute alte Krautrock Zeiten am Stammtisch wieder etwas belebt.

the Art of Noise - In Visible Silence

As revealed by Gary Langan on SDE last month, the Art of Noise‘s 1986 album In Visible Silence is soon to be reissued as a deluxe edition and we now have both the date of release and the full track listing… Their first post-ZTT long-player, In Visible Silence was released on China Records and saw ‘the band’ reduced to three members – Anne Dudley, J. J. Jeczalik and Gary Langan. The album was the first (and only) Art of Noise album to spawn two UK top 20 hit singles – Peter Gunn and Paranoimia – although the actual Max Headroom single version of the latter wasn’t featured at first. As can be seen below, this new reissue is remastered and features 26 extra tracks above the very original vinyl LP edition of In Visible Silence. It includes three versions of both Paranoimia (feat. Max Headroom) and Peter Gunn (feat. Duane Eddy), along with demos and other non-album tracks. In Visible Silence deluxe edition will be issued on 19 May, six days before Dudley, Jeczalik and Lagan ‘reboot’ the album live on stage in Liverpool.

Neues zum Thema Jethro Tull

Jethro Tull’s Songs From the Wood (The Country Set), considered by many to be one of their pivotal albums, will be issued as a 40th anniversary 3CD/2DVD set by Parlophone Records on 19th May in the now standard hardback book form. It includes the usual stereo and 5.1 surround sound remixes on the first CD and DVD, courtesy of yours truly, and a reconstructed 1977 live recording by Jakko Jakszyk across 2 CDs and a the second DVD. The set also includes what for many will be the find of the Tull reissue series so far, a very involved 9 minute track called “Old Aces Die Hard”. This song obviously had a lot of time spent on it and was found on the session reels fully overdubbed and ready for mixing, but apparently completely forgotten about! So much so that it hadn’t even been considered for previous JT archive collections. There are several other unissued recordings on the set, and many additional bonus audio and video features. Vinyl, digital, and standalone CD versions of the stereo remix will follow in July.

Das wird ja wieder teuer, Marc. Hoffentlich sind diesmal die Live-Recordings nicht so eine klangliche Enttäuschung, wie die von der Stand Up-Box.

So teuer ist die nicht - bei JPC für 25 Euro zu bekommen. Das würde ich als günstig bezeichnen
Bei den Liveaufnahmen würde ich auf jeden Fall die Erwartungshaltung nach unten schrauben und eher das erwarten was man als "historisch" bezeichnet

Immerhin liegen zwischen den Live-Recordings der "Stand Up-Tour" zur "Songs From The Wood-Tour" 8 Jahre dazwischen. Und finanziell sah es bei JT sicherlich sehr viel besser aus als 1969. Und schon alleine aus diesem Grund kann man auf eine bessere Qualität hoffen.
....zumal die 1975er-Live-Recordings der Minstrel in the Gallery-Box auch voll überzeugen!

Von daher ist meine Erwartungshaltung "verhalten-positiv-optimistisch"!

Parlophone are releasing Kraftwerk: 3-D The Catalogue next month, an audio/video document – available in a number of physical editions – that features all eight albums as performed live in the leading museums of the world in the last few years. This set – which is available as a deluxe blu-ray box set, vinyl box, and CD set – features the eight classic Kraftwerk albums in chronological order: Autobahn (1974), Radio-Activity (1975), Trans Europe Express (1977), The Man-Machine (1978), Computer World (1981), Techno Pop (1986), The Mix (1991) and Tour De France (2003) – filmed and recorded between 2012 and 2016 on the band’s 3-D World Tour. The locations include MoMA (New York), The Tate Modern Turbine Hall (London), Akasaka Blitz (Tokyo), Opera House (Sydney), Norske Opera (Oslo), Paradiso (Amsterdam), Fondation Louis Vuitton (Paris) and Neue National Galerie (Berlin). The 12 x 12-inch Deluxe Blu-Ray/Book edition features four Blu-Ray discs and a 236-page hardback art-book containing computer generated images from the 3-D multi-media performances alongside a selection of unseen photos. Two blu-rays cover the album performances, the other two discs contain tour films and projections. Everything is 3D but compatible with standard 2D. These all have Dolby Atmos 5.1 audio too, if you’re amp is compatible! The total running time is 436 minutes. The nine-LP deluxe vinyl box set has the eight albums (The Mix being a double) as performed across the world and mixed by Kraftwerk, who say the sound quality is “peerless”. An eight-CD box set mirrors the vinyl package, but is considerably cheaper. If all this is too much, then abriged 77-minute versions are available on two-LP vinyl and on both discs of a blu-ray+DVD combo pack 3-D The Catalogue is issued on 26 May 2017.

Marillion helped revitalise progressive rock in 1985 when the band released its third studio album, Misplaced Childhood. The concept record became the British quintet’s most commercially successful album, scoring Top Five hits with “Kayleigh” and “Lavender.” Parlophone builds on the album’s legacy with two new versions that boast remastered sound and unreleased recordings.

MISPLACED CHILDHOOD (DELUXE EDITION) will be released on July 7 as a 4CD/1BluRay set and 4LP boxed set version.

The CD/BluRay set includes the original album newly remastered and a 5.1 surround remix by acclaimed producer Steven Wilson. It’s accompanied by a previously unreleased concert from Holland that features a performance of Misplaced Childhood in its entirety, plus demos and rarities remastered exclusively for this set.

The BluRay disc contains an hour-long documentary about the album and promo videos for album singles “Lavender”, “Kayleigh”, “Lady Nina” and “Heart Of Lothian.” Also featured is the original album remixed by Steven Wilson in 5.1 Surround Sound and the 2017 Remaster in high resolution 96kHz 24 bit. Rounding out the disc are Wilson’s Surround Sound and Stereo remixes of “Lady Nina,” the B-side to “Kayleigh.” The entire set is presented in a case-bound book that includes a 60-page booklet with liner notes written by rock writer Dave Everley.

The vinyl version of MISPLACED CHILDHOOD (DELUXE EDITION) features the newly remastered version of the original album and the entire concert from Holland. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl, the four LPs are presented in a 12” x 12” lift-top box, completing the set is a beautiful 24 page booklet which contains replica tour program and extensive writing on the history of the album and how it came to be.

Singer Derek Dick (aka Fish), guitarist Steve Rothery, keyboardist Mark Kelly, bassist Pete Trewavas and percussionist Ian Mosley recorded Misplaced Childhood at Hansa Tonstudio in Berlin, Germany during the spring of 1985. A concept record with two continuous pieces of music, the song cycle explored themes of lost love, lost childhood, and more. Released in June 1985, it was an immediate success, topping the U.K. album chart and earning platinum status. The album included three big hits: “Kayleigh” (#2), “Lavender” (#5), and “Heart Of Lothian” (#29).

Discs two and three contain an October 1985 concert recorded Live at the Muziekcentrum Vredenburg in the city of Utrecht. The performance includes the entire Misplaced Childhood album along with several songs from the band’s earlier albums, like “Script For A Jester’s Tear” and “Fugazi.” All of the live recordings are previously unreleased except for “Chelsea Monday,” which was the B-side to “Heart Of Lothian” (The full concert is included with the MISPLACED CHILDHOOD (DELUXE EDITION) LP set).

Was mich ein klein wenig stutzig macht ist das hier von einem "Steven Wilson Remix" gesprochen wird obwohl Wilson selber dies weder bekannt gemacht noch irgendwie im Vorfeld angesprochen hat - in diesem Punkt ist er normalerweise immer sehr Auskunftsfreudig an was er gerade arbeitet bzw was in nächster Zeit kommen wird...Ich will jetzt nicht sagen das die Meldung falsch ist (vielleicht war diese Slowenische Webseite nur etwas zu früh mit den Infos) aber ich würde da eher i.M.noch ein Fragezeichen hinsetzen...Wenn das Teil wirklich so kommt ist es ein fettes Paket, ohne Frage.
