Any news on that?

Siltech introduces...the Signature Loudspeaker SC1!
This year's CES show in Las Vegas will be the stage for Siltech and its introduction of the Signature Loudspeaker SC1! Interactions between room and loudspeaker have been the parameter for the development and research for the Siltech Signature Loudspeaker SC1. Comsol (awarded by NASA for best software program) was used for accurate modelling and predicting room, cabinet and driver interactions. The development and designing process lead by only experts in this field has resulted in a loudspeaker with a natural bass with low distortion even at high power, a loudspeaker that's very natural, like a very wide ranged non-resonating instrument. An overall very stable three dimensional sound stage in a wide listening window. A unique sound, the Siltech Signature SC1.

http://www.enjoythemusic.com/ces2007/preshow/page6.htm

will be introducing their new SC1 audiophile loudspeaker during the 2007 CES. Engineered from the ground up to produce the ultimate in performance, the SC1 features the special attention to the cabinet, driver, and actual in-room acoustics to produce the highest in sound reproduction. The upper range is produced by a curved multi-segmented ultra-fast electrostatic driver, with midrange being produced by a 7-inch high-speed driver designed to reduce Doppler and harmonic distortion. Lowermost frequencies are produced by a pair of 16-inch long throw drivers mounted in a proprietary cascade cabinet. Internal wiring is Siltech's Generation 6 Silver/Gold. Overall frequency response is from 18Hz to 38Khz and each complete unit is a staggering 265 lbs.

Hi Bhagwan !

Dubai was great. I bought these from Dubai Audio Center:

1. Cyrus CD6s - CD Player
2. Cyrus Pre VS2 - Preamp
3. Cyrus Power 6 - Power amp

The store was good and the owner - Adil Anwar is a real audiohile grade gentleman.

Siltech speakers - Contrary to our predictions that Edwin van der Kley would soon turn into a gentleman of leisure what with his wife Gabi turning competing cable firm Crystal Cable into a runaway success, the owner of Siltech raises the stakes of this good-natured husband/wife competition to the next level by authoring a loudspeaker. The Signature Loudspeaker SC1 benefitted from Comsol (awarded by NASA for best software program) for accurate modelling and predictions of room, cabinet and driver interactions. "The development and design process led by only experts in this field has resulted in a loudspeaker with natural bass of low distortion even at high power, a loudspeaker that's very natural like a very wide ranged non-resonating instrument and an overall very stable three-dimensional soundstage in a wide listening window."

Oh Great. An all cyrus system with the Kef Coda.

Doc, could you post a review / observations on the improvement over the NAD C320bee, marantz cd player you had before ? It would be great.
Any plans for a speaker upgrade ?

Thanks.

There cannot be any comparison.

The Cyrus will do circles around the BEE's............

Speaker upgrade is in order.

What are you considering [DOC] ?

I am open to all ideas and suggestions about speakers. Any help is welcome.

I will post a detailed and considered review later. But as an initial remark it would be more than adequate to say that even my wife commented that Cyrus setup is significantly better than the previous one.

When you do the review, try replacing cyrus player with the marantz and observe. Just to see what made the biggest difference. The player or the amp ?

No not at all ! Thanks to people carrying huge Sony WEGA or some Plasma TVs and some boom-box Midi systems. The Cyrus boxes looked very diminutive - which was one of the reason for seriously considering them.

In any case we were travelling as a family of 4 - so had enough permissible limit too.

That is approx US $ 100 K

SILLY me... I thought I could by the ENTIRE COMPANY for that much

Maybe that is because the brokerage on the company sale would be NO WHERE near the the 5x dealer margins typical on Cables...

Hi Bombaywala !

How are you ?

Yes, the speaker is priced @ 80/- K Euro's.
So 100/- K US seems to be about OK.

Nice pictures were taken & put up by Mike & Neli [Audio Federation]. Did you hava a look at the Rockport Speaker's ? They are there on AF & on SoundStage too. Worth a look.
I will write more on the CES page.

ALl the best ! Keep the good news flowing..........

It got finished 8 days back;
Got Launched 4 days back.
Review will take a while.

The Tweeter [ESL Panel] was moved from the centre to the top only 15 days back.

The speaker is still 'not completely' finished.
It will go back to Holland for some work, before the 3 pre sold pairs are shipped out to Japan etc.

I do hope the one that comes to Pune is the 'final' finished pair !!!

I look forward to that !

Well you could have a few months back.
i.e. when Cadence took over controlling interest in Siltech. But the amount would have been slightly higher. How much more, I have no idea...........

Contrary to our predictions that Edwin van der Kley would soon turn into a gentleman of leisure..... what with his wife Gabi turning competing cable firm Crystal Cable into a runaway success.

Dont sound ethical to me .... running a second cable company (Crystal Cables) in his wife's name, and selling the first...

"Transfer of Technolgy" from Siltech to Crystal.... dont we all tell our wives EVERYTHING ? ... well ALMOST everything

Also, surprising that he gets to use the Siltech brand name...

Apparently he's got himself a good deal, and Cadence has been very lenient ???

Hi Amp Nut !

Nice point of view;

However, we [at least I] are not aware of the Holding Patern in Crystal Cable. It may have Siltech as a 'majotity' share holder.....
So, if Gabi sells Crystal or Van Der Kley sells, the money still comes into the same bag. That is the impression I am under. I could be wrong..........

Could you shed some light ?

Hi Bhagwan,

Good point. I have ZERO info on this.

But if what you speculate to be the situation, then it would be ethically clean.

The Use of the Siltech Brand name in Loudspeakers, by the earlier owner, after he sold Siltech Cables is perplexing...

Siltech is still run by Van Der Kley.
He has just stratigically placed some of his stock with another entity. He [vdK] still has a stake in Siltech. He has not sold out.

BTW - Siltech also made tube amplifiers - 100 K list.
Sold out - 40 pcs were made [I think]............
They wanted to take it forward, hence the speaker adition to the line up. They also make power conditioners etc.
More may follow soon !!

Hi Bhagwan69,
I'm doing fine. Thank you for asking.

Yes, I took a look @ the Rockport speakers. I was never a fan of side woofers (difficult to get the phasing correct, IMHO). However, their fit & finish appears to be impeccable.
Loved the Kondo electronicss & his latest turntable.
Also, "The turntable in the Montana room" is very pretty looking to me - the wood-work is superbly finished. Furniture quality!
