the name is pretty complicated. if the co is twisted pear..the dac could have been a fruit instead of an mammmal

Bu on a more serious note, what this new ES9008 chip about ? interesting that they have an I2S input.

just hapenned to go throught their other products..they have some SPDIF to I2S converters..What would be the use of that ?

Sir !

I have had my eye on the Buffalo even before they put out their 1st PCB.

Only reason that I have not bought it, is that they are CONTINIOUSLY out of stock. When they re-open orders, ( middle of the night, our time) they are sold out in Minutes ..

I had posted this link on this forum, many moons ago

Note they also have a digital volume control as an optional add on. ( Just US $ 75 extra ).

This DAC is the reason I did not buy the other DAC that Siva is using.

The SPDIF to I2S is in case you need to feed this from a CD Transport.

The USB to I2S kit is for use with a computer.

Even the latest Wavelenght Audio ( RATHER Expensive compared to this ) DAC uses the same DAC. The DAC is VERY, VERY well reviewed...

Its on my shopping list.. after I get my CD player..

somehow the other Wavelength Audio's gear is quite unaffordable!! Such has been the case for a long time now!
they seem to be keeping up w/ the current audio trend, which I like very much, but I cannot seem to be agreeable to spending that kind of money for their products!

Is this related to the infamous Pear Audio of Michael Fremer/James Randi fame?

I dont think so.

From their site : http://www.twistedpearaudio.com

Twisted Pear Audio is a collaborative effort between Brian Donegan and Russ White to provide superior quality, but low cost, high-fidelity electronic kits to the Do It Yourself (DIY) market.

These are dedicated DIYers, that offer Kits at attractive prices, share their Circiut diagrams and PCB layouts, for those who prefer not to buy their kist, or simply to make their own audio products, based on their ideas...

No snake oil, no smoke screens, and No absurd prices ...

I think i am going to give the Buffalo DAC a shot..

Just need to free up some funds..also I am looking to build a Tube amp for my headphones with help from the local portland tube guru..

Just bought an ESI Juli@ for the digital out from my computer to my current DIY DAC.

I have sent an email to Brian and Russ asking about specific stuff and stock availability.

Keep you posted.
