D&M Holdings, which is owned 51.6 percent by RHJ International , a holding company linked to U.S. buyout firm Ripplewood, said it would pay $17.50 per share in cash for the Massachusetts-based company, an 8 percent premium over its Wednesday close on the Nasdaq at $16.21. Ripplewood, best known for its turnaround of Japanese lender Shinsei Bank <8303.T>, formed D&M Holdings in May 2002 by combining its acquisitions of premium audio equipment makers Denon and Marantz Japan." One cannot speculate on what this merger would hold for the customer. One will have to wait and find out if BA or D&M customers benifit. Usually these mergers are for the benifit of the companies rather than the customers :-) D&M I am told has a rather ambitious expansion plan. Aquisitions is one route and probably the quickest.
