kindly help in buying 5.1 speakers

Hi guys,
Well I need some advice from all of you,
I am planning to buy a PC AMD 3500+ / MOBO : ASUS A8N
So, I am planning to have a DVD writer so that I can have a small home theatre setup in my house.
I have seen/ heard my good computer speaker (5.1),like creative inspire 5.1,altec lansing ,logitech Z5500

Z5500 was way too expensive .
I also saw a hyundai speaker setup ,and found it pretty good ,better than creative they are 125 watts RMS ,the sound does'nt blare even at high volume and they give stands also ,the wiring is also long enough.
In all I found it pretty interesting .
But please advice me whether non PC speakers will be able to perform well with the PC(also the connection???),also which speaker setup is good enough in a budget of around 8000/- which can play music and movies satisfactorily.Later I will upgrade to a better setup.
Also seeing the config do you think that buying a sound card would be of some benefit.

HI,

If u want to go strictly multimedia way I think Altec Lansing is the way to go.
But u can check up Torvin Minimax 5.1 system.They r not multimedia speakers.140RMS total output.It retails around Rs7000, within ur budget. It converts two channel audio to 5.1 format too. cheque out

Hey ,
Can you tell me how to get a Demo in Pune .
Can you also please suggest whether amongst Altec/Creative/and Logitech which is a overall better performer in the below 10K range

Hi,

Pune i am not sure. As u can see from their website they have a dealer in Bangalore in Audio Planet.U can contact Torvin and know wheather they have anyone at pune.
As for as multimedia as i have told u before its Altec Lansing. If u can stretch ur budget a little u can go for Logitech Z-5300.I think it reatails around Rs13000 in India.

Hi there,
Do you think 13K is worth buying a computer speaker setup.
I mean Z5300 can it be used with other sources like DVD player , MP3,TV etc .And what is the life of such computer speakers ,most of them start blaring after a year or two ?
than 13 K ,I don't know,gimme your take on that ....

First thing first........you want a Home Theater (HT), for that you need a Sound Card which has Dolby Digital decoder, have you decided about that ? Or does your onboard audio has Dolby decoder ? Simply adding a 5.1 speakers wont give you HT effects. Tell me how are you planning to go about it.
