Buying Hi End in Germany

Hi all, great to find this new forum!

I want to buy a new DVD player, Processor and Amp and I'm looking for some tips from some experienced locals!

I'm primarily thinking about Arcam DV88, AV8 and P7 but also interested in Tag as well.

First, can anyone recommend a friendly, knowledgeable and English speaking dealer in the Munich area (I don't mind travelling 100Km further)?

Second, what is normal when it comes to negotiating prices? How is this normally done, and what discount should I expect? Do you have to negotiate or will they always give their best price?

The Arcam equipment is currently almost 2000 Euros more expensive in Germany compared to the UK (before any discounts!) so If I buy here, it needs to be a good deal!

Hi lonely spider!

Negotiating prices is often different, I know many dealers who would never negotiate any price

I have been to munich, once (really nice beer! :*), but I don't know any dealer there.

Hi,

in Munich there are some dealers (for surround):
(i) www.hifi-concept.de
(ii) www.cinemaundsound.de
(iii) www.life-like.de
(iv) www.hifi-treffpunkt.de
...
I know that life-like has arcam. Tag will be sold by all dealers.
A very good German PreAmp ist also the audionet map (5650 EUR) ...
Before you go to the shop, it's better to phone or email (for a date).
