Hi,

Since everyone's announcing new product launches, I thought I would pitch in too!

Lyrita Audio has a new valve SET amplifier out, for those that require a boost in amplification power.

The 6C33C SET integrated amp uses the renowned Russian 6C33C-B triodes, to give a healthy 15 watts output per channel. Sound retains the beguiling SET quality, with power reserves for great dynamics.

Audition the amp at Lyrita's Delhi location.

Viren

Hi Viren,

CONGRATS !

A 15 Watt SET makes all of us, Indian tube lovers proud !

Will Certainly drop in for a listen on my next visit to Delhi... sadly, I dont visit Delhi Often.

Going by your pricing, it would be a Steal at International prices.

Cheers !

Hi,

To clarify, the pricing of Lyrita Audio's products is logically based on input costs, and a reasonable margin of profit. The intention is to bring out products of very good sound quality at Indian prices.

The circuits of SET amps are so simple that I can afford using all Kiwame resistors, BlackGate capacitors for cathode bypass, and Russian K40Y-9 paper-in-oils for coupling stages. Since my amps are transformer heavy, it required developing all transformers in house.

Pricing :
Lyrita 6C33C SET integrated amp Rs.45,000
(Power output 15 watts per channel)
Lyrita 2A3 SET integrated amp Rs.45,000
(Power output 3 watts per channel)

The choice is yours. If you have high sensitivity speakers, make your choice based on sound quality alone.
If you don't, the choice is made in favour of the more powerful amp.

Enjoy,
Viren

That's easy, even my cat can do it! You could have told me earlier, anyway, will do that in my next visit to Shanghai.

I knew Viren-ji would get to AF station Bareily double quick to mop up the 6C33C tubes when the IAF retired the MiG25SR strategic reconnaissance aircraft a couple of years ago.

6C33C is formidable beast and introduction by Lyrita only takes the game to another level. Can you post some details. This is one amp that I would like to buy and the cost you mention is a steal.

Fitting that you coincide the launch with Chandrayan mission. 6C33C tube has played a big role in past space missions.

BTW did you import the sockets? As far as I know IAF used a different type of socket which was not really suitable for civilian application.

Hi,

Here are some details about the Lyrita 6C33C SET amp:

It's a 2-stage design, with a EL84 pentode input/driver stage, capacitor coupled to the 6C33C-B output stage. Fixed bias is used. No global feedback. The output stage power supply uses solid state rectifiers, whereas the input stage supply is valve rectified. Issues of heat are resolved by the use of a small DC fan, which directs air to the output valve sockets.

The 6C33C is a dual triode, internally connected in parallel. Unique are the independent heaters to each section, allowing one or both sections to be used.

Bi-plate to Mono-plate operation:
A switch turns on either both, or only one heater, converting the triodes from bi- to mono-plate operation. With no paralleling and recombining of the audio signal, mono-plate operation gives you greater clarity in sound. Power output drops from 15 watts to about 10 watts, which is not of much consequence.

can you give an idea on the speaker types and loads it can drive comfortably ?

Hi Arj,

Of course, these low power single-ended amps do mate much better with high sensitivity speakers. Any speaker above 93 dB sensitivity will be fine. Single driver speakers are a special subset.

The amp is currently designed for 8 ohm loads. However, any load, 4 to 16 ohms, can be easily adapted by another tap on the output transformer.

That said, I have tried the 6C33C SET amp with the Rogers Studio One, and the Proac Tablette Reference, of 88dB and 86dB sensitivity respectively. You could drive both speakers to loud levels easily, with a good, damped low end response. The SET attributes shine through!

Hi aks,

Unfortunately, the Air Force personnel wouldn't let me through their gates, even though I had good "kabariwala" credentials!

So I am reduced to going to the erstwhile Russian Federation for the real stuff!

Viren

Hello Members staying in Delhi,

Could you please do us non Delhites a BIG favour by dropping in at Viren's place to audition the new SET Amp.

Please post your sonic impressions so that the less privileged like me ( Non Delhite ) can get an idea of how the Amp sounds.

Hi Max !!

Nice suggestion;
However, I am not in concurence with it.

I truly suggest that each and every one of us to should do HIS own listening.
This is important.

We all have different 'experiances' in audio & also 'listen' very differently.

The Delhi Chapter of this forum is very 'knowledgable' & are lovely people [hospitable] but can we take their listening suggestions seriously ?

Kindly ponder - before there is a knee jerk reaction....
Thanks...

Hi Bhagwan,

I am not saying one should make a purchasing decision based on someone else's review but something is better than nothing. Getting an approximation to shortlist a component is the purpose of this review request.

For example, rarely have I heard a particular audio component being called bright sounding by one person and dull sounding by another person. Yes, the degrees of Brightness will be based on individual opinion. So, if I have bright sounding speakers then I know that I need to look elsewhere.

Secondly, I also have friends who have come to my place and heard my system and our thoughts about the sonics match to the T. In such cases I can take a call on purchasing a particular component if that particular person recommends it.

Again this is IMHO not an Audio Law.
