Nun 8 LPs und 10 "Discs" moegen darauf hindeuten, dass da 2 DVD's in dem CD Packen stecken.

Ich werde nicht vorbestellen, sondern auf die ersten Rezensionen warten, da das Label Edsel wohl einen gemischten Ruf bezueglich CD Klangqualitaet hat (MP3 quality).

Haben wir, glaube ich, schon mal diskutiert... Wenn der Banner stimmt "Original Master Recording", dann müsste die MFSL so wie die AFZ auch dynamikkomprimert sein, denn auf der AFZ steht "From the Original Master Tapes" oben....
Die Sire dürfte ja von den LP Cutting Tapes sein... (deswegen auch der höhere DR Wert und der bessere Klang)

New York Voices: Let It Snow (5.1)


Recording/mixing Guru Elliot Scheiner has entered into a partnership with the folks at Audio Fidelity to bring us more 5.1 SACD releases.

Universal Music will reissue 40th anniversary editions of Supertramp‘s 1974 album Crime of the Century in December, including a 3LP vinyl box set.

The original album is remastered across all formats and the two-CD deluxe edition and 3LP vinyl box adds a previously unreleased concert from London’s Hammersmith Odeon in March 1975. During this gig the band play Crime of the Century in its entirety as well as new tracks from what was their forthcoming album, Crisis . . . What Crisis? This concert has been mixed from the original tapes by Crime’s original producer Ken Scott.

The limited edition vinyl box comes with two 10 x 8 images and an eight page booklet featuring a 7,500 word essay by Phil Alexander of Mojo Magazine, featuring new interviews with many of the key players. The albums are pressed on 180gm vinyl and the box comes with a download card.

Crime of the Century is reissued on 8 December 2014.

Obwohl diese Alben den Gipfelpunkt der Menschheitsgeschichte darstellen waren sie doch klanglich leider etwas mau.
Speziell "The River" und "Darkness" waren eine echte Katastrophe. Das Remastering scheint hier ersten Berichten nach mehr als gelungen zu sein!

64-track six-CD package on Polydor/UMe includes legendary 1969 album, featuring several different mixes, live recordings from The Matrix in San Francisco, case-bound book and liner notes by David Fricke

Los Angeles, CA – September 24, 2014 – The Velvet Underground’s classic self-titled third album, released in March 1969, by MGM, was a departure from the band’s first two albums in more ways than one. Gone was co-founding member John Cale, and in his place was a 21-year-old with Long Island roots named Doug Yule, who stepped right in. The record was also a stylistic leap, as Lou Reed describes it in Rolling Stone editor David Fricke’s liner notes, “I thought we had to demonstrate the other side of us. Fricke calls it “a stunning turnaround… 10 tracks of mostly warm, explicit sympathy and optimism, expressed with melodic clarity, set in gleaming double-guitar jangle and near-whispered balladry. Or as the late rock critic Lester Bangs put it, “How do you define a group like this, who moved from ‘Heroin’ to ‘Jesus’ in two short years?”

How indeed do you describe an album which includes such classics as “Candy Says,” Reed’s ode to Warhol superstar Candy Darling; the aching love song “Pale Blue Eyes,” allegedly inspired by a girlfriend at Syracuse University who got away, with lead vocals by Yule; the inspiring “Beginning to See The Light”; the spoken-word narrative and musique concrete of “The Murder Mystery,” and the beautiful Maureen Tucker-sung “After Hours”?

Celebrating its enduring longevity, Polydor/Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) will release The Velvet Underground – 45th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition, on November 24, 2014. This 64-track, six-CD package is housed in a case-bound book and features several different mixes including the remastered stereo mix by MGM house engineer Luis Pastor “Val” Valentin, a set of 1969 recordings, many of which were previously unreleased, from the Record Plant in New York City that were supposed to be the band’s fourth album, several of which ended up on Loaded and Reed’s first two solo releases, and unreleased live recordings from The Matrix in 1969.

The remastered Valentin stereo mix of The Velvet Underground will also be made available as a single-disc CD, on vinyl, and as part of the two-CD Deluxe Edition version with a 12-track audio bonus disc featuring the best of Live At The Matrix, taped on November 26 & 27, 1969. Digital versions of both the single disc “Valentin mix” and the six-CD, Super Deluxe Edition will also be available through other digital partners including MFiT and HD Audio formats.

The Velvet Underground was the first album produced and arranged by the band themselves. Disc One of this collection contains the album stereo mix by MGM house engineer Luis Pastor “Val” Valentin, a veteran of sessions for Ella Fitzgerald and Stan Getz, recorded at T.T.G. Studios in Hollywood, while the band was staying at the Chateau Marmont. The second disc features what Sterling Morrison dubbed “The Closet Mix,” which Reed described as a way to “get directly to somebody, unfiltered… So, if you listen to the record, it’s like sitting across from you.” This was the original version on the 1969 pressings of the album, later replaced by yet another Val Valentin stereo mix. The third disc features “the promotional mono mix” of the album, including a mono version of the first single, “What Goes On” b/w “Jesus.”

The fourth disc in the set offers a version of the never-to-be-released fourth album, recorded in October 1969 at the Record Plant in New York City, and intended to get the band out of its contract with MGM. The sessions include 10 previously unheard mixes - four original 1969 vintage mixes and six new mixes, including 2014 mixes of “Lisa Says” and “I Can’t Stand It,” and the original 1969 mix of “Ocean,” which eventually were re-recorded for Lou Reed’s 1972 self-titled solo debut. Also included are the original 1969 mixes of “Andy’s Chest,” which appeared in a different version on Transformer, and “Rock & Roll,” redone for Loaded.

The last two discs feature performances by the Velvets from their stay at San Francisco’s The Matrix, owned by Jefferson Airplane’s Marty Balin, on November 26 and 27, 1969. These performances are, for the first time, compiled and mixed from the legendary, original 1969 multi-track recordings made by club manager Peter Abram and now owned by the Velvet Underground. Tracks include a nearly 37-minute-long “Sister Ray” and a version of “There She Goes Again,” interpolating the opening guitar quote from Marvin Gaye’s 1962 hit, “Hitch Hike.”

Newest member Doug Yule describes the year best to Fricke in his liner notes, pointing to the band’s “cohesiveness and creativity and just great music. We were feeling good. All we had to do was play. And it showed. That comes out in a band. You get tight, and you get creative.”

Rick Wakeman's A&M Years werden 2015 zum ersten Mal wieder veröffentlicht.

Den Anfang machen seine beiden besten Alben aus dem Jahr 1973 bzw. 75. Erscheinen jeweils als CD/DVD Deluxe Edition Mitte Februar 2015.

Simple Minds‘ sixth studio album Sparkle in the Rain will be reissued in March 2015 across a number of formats including a five-disc super deluxe edition box set.

The Steve Lillywhite produced album, released in 1984, features the iconic single Waterfront and saw the band embrace a rockier, more stadium friendly sound after the new wave pop of New Gold Dream.

The album has been newly remastered and the super deluxe box set will feature a disc of single edits, B-sides and extended mixes as well as a further two CDs that include 13 tracks performed Live at Barrowlands in Glasgow in 1984 and a trio of BBC Radio One sessions from 1983.

Additionally, a DVD will include a brand new Steven Wilson 5.1 surround sound remix of the album, a new stereo mix and all three promo videos (Waterfront, Speed Your Love To Me, Up On The Catwalk) as well as a few TV appearances.

If the box is more than you require, there will be a two-CD deluxe edition, a new vinyl version and a blu-ray audio with the 5.1 mix.

Sparkle in the Rain will be reissued on 16 March 2015.

Inhaltlich kann ich noch nichts dazu sagen - auch wenn die ersten Stücke schon in den Weiten des Netzes aufgetaucht sind. Die Box soll ja erst Ende Februar des nächsten Jahres erscheinen. (Ich kann lediglich hoffen, dass mir die Musik besser gefällt als der - mE flügellahme - Rabe, bei dem ich die oft geäußerte Euphorie nicht wirklich nachvollziehen konnte und kann. Und das trotz des gelungenen Surround-Mix)

Beibt das Unverständnis über den Umfang dieser Box, die mit "Gebundenes Buch, ca. 30x30 cm, 96 Seiten - CD Album - CD »Original Demos« - Blu-ray u.a. 5.1 Surround Mix, 7 exkl. Alternativversionen, 30 Min. Studio-Dokumentation, Fotogalerie - DVD enthält das Album in unterschiedlichen Mixen (Stereo, 5.1 , DTS 96/24 5.1 u. 96/24 Stereo LPCM)" daherkommt und weit, weit mehr beinhaltet als die Musik. Und: Warum nur warum, sind auch hier wieder Redundanzen zu finden, die kein Mensch braucht und nur den Preis nach oben treiben...

Kannst Du mal nicht deine Kommentare zu irgendwelchen teuren Boxen sein lassen, wo dir anscheinend das Kleingeld dazu fehlt

Der Markt ist dafür da jegliche Ansprüche gerecht zu werden...... Hast Du so ein unsinniges Post auch geschrieben, als die diversen Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd Boxen erschienen sind, die weit aus mehr kosten und teils weniger Mehrwert bieten.

Regst Du dich auch auf, wenn ein Neuwagen in verschiedenen Ausstattungen angeboten wird?

Und wenn er eben nicht den Ansprüchen Aller gerecht wird, kann man das doch gerne kritisieren. Solche Redundanzen halte ich für genauso kritikwürdig wie den Umstand, dass ich häufig noch Schweißbänder und einen Schlüpfer mit dem Namen der Band mit erwerben und bezahlen muss, nur um die eine Scheibe mit dem 5.1-Mix zu erhalten, die es einzelnd nicht zu kaufen gibt.

Ich sehe keinen Grund.... es gibt zig Versionen von billig bis teuer. Einzel CD, edel aufgemachte Einzel CD, Blu-ray und eben dieses Boxset. Den 5.1 Mix gibt es auch einzeln o. als Download.

Gentleman - MTV Unplugged (Limited Collector's Box, 2CD + DVD + Blu-ray + 4LP (180g) + Single 7")
Für diejenigen, die Gentleman nicht kennen, nur soviel: "...bürgerlich Tilmann Otto, ist ein deutscher Reggae-Musiker....". Genaueres weiss, wie so oft, die Wiki. (klick).
Der Inhalt wird in den Kundenbesprechungen bei den üblichen Verdächtigen in den höchsten Tönen gelobt.
Natürlich sind hier auch "abgespeckte" Versionen (nur CD, nur DVD, nur LP...) lieferbar, doch ein Blick auf den aktuell sehr günstigen Preis (weniger als 40 €) könnte das berüchtigte Zucken in den Fingern nach sich ziehen. Die Tonträger, die man selbst nicht braucht, kann man ja weiterreichen - schließlich steht Weihnachten vor Tür. Bei dieser affengeilen Mucke, wird man das dann sicher gedankt bekommen...

Alle 14 Grobschnitt-Alben von 1972 bis 1989 erscheinen Ende Februar 2015 bei Universal Music in überarbeiteter Form einheitlich in exakter Länge von 79 Minuten und 10 Sekunden auf CD. Das ist der Grund weshalb wir das gesamte Projekt so genannt haben und die Idee mit der 79:10 Uhr entstand. Mehr Musik passt definitiv nicht auf eine CD, wenn man die technischen Regeln (Red Book Specs) für eine einwandfrei abspielbare Compact Disk einhält.

Die Alben Solar Music live, Rockpommel`s Land und Last Party sind jeweils um eine Bonus-CD erweitert. Insgesamt gibt es also 17 randvolle CDs. Die komplette Neuauflage wurde digital remastert und enthält zahlreiche, bisher unveröffentlichte Bonus-Tracks. Als Herzstück bringt Universal unter dem Titel 79:10 zusätzlich den kompletten Katalog in einem Super-Deluxe-Boxset heraus. Die limitierte Edition umfasst neben allen 14 Alben, die in speziellen Mintpacks verpackt sind, auch ein 92-seitiges Buch im LP Format mit vielen Bildern, zweisprachigen Texten und Begebenheiten aus der langen Bandgeschichte, sowie einen wunderschönen Kunstdruck vom Innencover von Rockpommel's Land im Format 33 x 66 cm. Als ganz besonders Geschenk für Euch haben wir drei Gründungsmitglieder Lupo, Eroc und Wildschwein jeden Kunstdruck einzeln handsigniert. Ihr könnt also sicher sein, dass jedes Exemplar somit auch ein Unikat ist.
