Spendor

Recently, I found that the tweeter of my left speaker sounds a little distorted in certain high frequencies. It may be the result of the uncontrollable big nasty electronic noises produced by my previous amplifier. Although the problem is not obvious, I'd like to change another pair of speakers.

Two days ago, I found Spendor SP2 in a second-hand hi-fi shop. I always want to own Spendor for their neutral sound with good focus. I listened to them for a few minutes. I found that they sound a little too boxy. Is this normal? I'm not familiar with old Spendor. Do you or your friends own Spendor (specially the exact model or similar old models) and can give me advice in choosing a good pair of the brand? Thanks!
