Hi All,
I have a old set of speakers which I intend to use as rear surround for the present.

Each of these speakers have two pairs of wire . The speaker is a 3 way system, with a woofer and a pair of smaller drivers for the midrange.

My question is how do I connect this speaker to my AV receiver, since it accepts only one pair of wires for each surround, whereas I have two pairs coming from the each speaker. Should I short the speaker wires among themselves and connect it to the amp.

Plz help !!!

The 2 sets of terminals behind each speaker is for Bi-wiring / bi-amping.

If you plan to use them for the surround channel, simply short the red-with-red and the back-with-black terminals behind the speaker.

Then run the speaker cable, as you would, for a regular speaker, from these terminals to your AV Receiver.

Enjoy the music !

I am not sure if those pair of wires are for biwiring, since this mini system is a cheap one costing total of 13 k, for two sets of speakers, a 3 cd changer, cassette player.
I thought biwired speakers r in general very expensive.

Moreover , by doing this , I am in effect connecting my speakers in parallel, will this not be too much of a drain on my am since the total impedence will reduce.

Connect only one set of the terminals, (behind one speaker) to your amp and play it softly.

Do all 3 drivers play ? I doubt it.

If only some drivers play, then the 2 sets of rear speaker terminals are for bi-wiring...

In such a case, they will not overload your amp, with too low an impedence.

Yes , you are right.

I have tried this experiment last evening. When connecting one set , I get response only from woofer, or when I connect the other set I get it from the surround speakers + tweeter possibly.

Well in that case I would next try shorting the pair against each other, and see the response.

Thanks
