Hi Guys,
Just got the massive 6.5 feet tall 132 kgs DYNAUDIO EVIDENCE TEMPTATION loudspeakers for a client. First one in south india brought by Absolute phase for a demo.

Took us nearly seven hours to set up from a sealed box to final pre-tune in. (Still needs some minor tuning tomorrow.)

Veeru (soundsmiths) & I had a blast this evening with the temptations.
Worth every drop of sweat. Yes they are not cheap, retail at $ 30,000/- wish Dynaudio supplied a robot to do the setup.!

Attached are a few pictures taken from my cellphone (sorry for the low quality) too burnt out and pooped to type more. Will take out better pics from a decent digital cam tomorrow.

check out the pics though. If we cant own one, atleast we can see them in pics. Am happy atleast i unpacked the monsters, set them up (need six of us to do that ) and yes heard them too.

Amen.
1. The two boxes 8 x 3 feet each

2. The two boxes and the third box that contains only the base's, each base itself is over 30 kgs, made of stainless steel and HDF.

3. The Temptations leaving AP, i feel sad!! Sigh!!

4. The top cover removed.

5. The temptations on its side, yes they are 6.54 feet in length and weigh over 132 kgs. This is not a one man job at all, dont even try!

6. One of the 30 odd Kgs plinth sitting on the sofa waiting for final instal.

7. Veeru assembling the last allen bolt on the massive 30kg plinth, while I shoot him with my cellphone.

8. Finally the monsters are up and standing, our backs are killing us. Listening to some music while we both take a break and have some tea.

9. Finally Veeru meets the giant monster, he's dwarfed by the temptations. Pic not to clear!

10. Finally Veeru at the cellphone taking a shot of me and the Temptations, yes they are taller than me as well as heavier than me by atleast 38 kgs. Finally something that is taller than me. Too tired to even smile!

11. Another angle of the dangle guys.

Each Temptation was driven by a Jeff Rowland MC501 Mono (1000w RMS @ 4 Ohms) The Temps are 4 Ohms. Processor was a Theta casablanca III & the DVD player was a THETA COMPLI. All Cables were Kimber select. Power conditioner was a Shyunata Hydra 8.

Still a lot of fine tuning and more of listening of music till we get the right location. Looks like another tiring day tomorrow.

bye guys. to tired

Yes Sachi,
Somehow I still prefer the PLINIUS amps instead of the JRs. IMHO

i haven't heard a Jeff Rowland..only just seen one...but have seen others where they se LM3886 in bridge parallel mode to attain 300 watts per channel in 8 ohms...
a neat desing but abt sonic issues .i don't know...
The Plinius is one of the best i have heard but i would really love to listen to Arj's amp and a plinius amp ...i simply feel that Arj's amp is just too good..

But, this is one good system...could u give an estimation on how much it cost ..including details on room treatments ..?

hi Bombaywalla....Yeah Jeff Rowland uses the Ice amp modules to power them up even latest models of Rotels also uses this technology...But are they as good as the older Jeffs...using LM3886..?

While I havent researched a Great deal on this, I believe that Jeff Rowland has used a variety of technologies for his amps.

These range from discrete Transistors ( the 50 Watt, High Current is still considered a Classic ) to ones that use the "Gainclone IC " to Switching amps.

While I am neither for nor against JR sound, ( I just have not heard them on familiar equipment ) I believe JR will be tweaking each technology to add its own touch and sound...

One of my favourite and still the best sounding amps I heard from Jeff Rowland was the Model 9T, this had an external batter power supply. These discontinued amps were amazing and are no comparision IMHO to the new ICEPOWERED Model 501 Mono.

Can someone throw more light on these ICE POWERED amps. Lot of manufacturers are shifting to the Class T Tripath stuff too. Great for car audio as they reduce the size, but some how not too my liking.

IMHO, no! Rowland's older amps like Model 2, Model 6, Model 10 & his very best (so far according to me) - the Model 8 & mono version Model 9 - are far better sounding. The older Model 2, 6 are darker sounding. Model 10 is less darker sounding but still on the darker side of neutral.
The new Model 201 uses the B&O ICE module. Has all the audiophile attributes but no soul.
Again, IMHO. YMMV.

Correct, Arj!
Over here in the USA, it used to cost $4500 for the pair! Must have gone up now!
What a bloody rip-off!
