i use a 9W amp with 89db speakers and the volume pot in my pre is at 25% for decent loud and at 50 it gets rather unbearable!!!

Do tell us more about yr amp & speakers.

I am looking to learn more about ( and hopefull hear some ) high efficiency speakers.

i dont think so. Not sure if any are available anywhere these days.

I think the TRipath chip which forms the core (believe it or not but a Mr Adya Triparthy is the patent holder and the designer of those chips) is undergoing problems of a litigational nature.
incidentally all apple products have his chips for amplification

so also blaupunkt !!!

They're available on good old Baazee... oops! I mean ebay.in. Just look under consumer goods > home audio > amplifiers. They're pretty cheap too!
