Guys at last have found something for my office computer system! Nothing in the market sounded right and I just came across this. Haven't heard them but but going by the reviews and the price don't expect to be disappointed. Will work well with my iPod and for when I execute my plan for streaming at some future date!
Just placed an order for this.

http://audioengineusa.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=79

And best of all they are available in India at

http://www.bajaao.co...&pto=&categories_id=

The reviews listed on Audioengines website for their speakers is pretty impressive.

Audio-engine is quite good compared to what is available out there in the guise of computer speakers.

The Altec Lansing MX5021 is better than A2 and costs much less. But yes its a sub/sat design. However its quite easy to match both. The A2 has severe midbass bloat. A friend who switched from a Klipsch Promedia 2.0 was sorely disappointed with them. The A5 is supposed to be significantly better.

Thanks Reignofchaos! Just when I was feeling so good! just kidding. Guess there will always be something better out there.
Just liked their size, the reviews and that they are selling in India at the exact US prices.

I think our resident forum member bhagwan69 has one as well. That says something about them :-). Those speakers were my ticket to audiophilia land as well.

Hi Jeeves,

recently I auditioned Trivox XS, a German desktop speaker: http://www.trivox.de/english/xs.html and a subwoofer is also available.
It is really amazing what can come out of those little toys. Congratulation for your decision.
Just for information: Trivox is very closely working with Lehmann Audio and Scheu Analog under the banner HiFi aus Deutschland (Hifi from Germany). A very good speaker manufacturer indeed.

It's a passive speaker. But because of it's high sensitivity a low power amp is absolutely suffcient. Trivox was driving the speaker with a µVAC tube amp of 2x0.8 Watts and it worked very well

If it is the Altec you are referring to, then yes, it is there on my sons computer. It is a 'rock star' of a speaker combination. Not exactly audiophile - but great for games & dance music etc.

I recommend it very very strongly.

p.s. Just but a good 'sound card' very very important.

These speakers can be modified rather well. There is significant difference if one replaces the voltage amplification opamp and the cross over and power supply capacitors which are of bargain basement quality.

Did not know such products existed....this one seems worth looking into! Even has a DAC built in! This music server business is getting me pretty involved.
Even Dynaudio has a high end pair of active speakers for the desk top to be used with a computer.

Amp nut
There is a review of the Wadia in Tone Audio No 15. I haven't read it but a scan tells me its a good review. Incidentally Sushil who is Wadia's distributor is importing 16 of these on pre-order.
To continue this is another link which is from the link in my post above which gives more info on the speakers.

I remember Reignofchaos and Bhagwan having some experience with the THX certified Altec lansing MX5021 speaker system. I am looking for one for my LCD/Gaming/computer rig. I heard the A2 (audioengine) with Jeeves. Sounds clean and nice for a pc speaker. But I need some more grunt and bass for the monsters in the games….
Couple of questions:
1. How many inputs does this gear have ? Are they RCA type ?
2. I need to connect a dvd player, one x-box and a PS3 in the near future. All stereo RCA. Will this work ?
3. Will this sound better than a BOSE AM3 stereo rig running off a used stereo amp ? Someone has one for sale.

I used to have an MX5021 and it was a nice speaker. The sub did get boomy if put on anything more than 1/5 levels but overall the sound quality was exceptional for something that costs 7 grand odd. It has a lot of grunt for movies/games if that is what you are looking for.

It has a main input and an auxillary input. Both are of the 3.5" mini type not RCA. The speaker comes with an RCA to mini converter in the box.

It will kill a bose acoustimass 3. However a proper bookshelf/amp setup will sound better. I recently switched to a Musical Fidelity A1 + Jamo E700 bookshelf combo that replaced the mx5021.

I just bought the AudioEngine 2 from Bajaao and the first pair turned to be defective. Returned it and replaced it with a white pair
Excellent sound. Sweet and full.
Will be connecting it to the SB3 in a few days. Will let you know how it goes.
One thing I desperately miss in the AE2 is the lack of a front grill cover for the drivers. Wish they had that covered.

350 Euro... that definitely is pricey for a passive computer speaker .

Ok then add another 350 Euro for a NuForce Icon and you'll have a real high end system for your desktop

Hi Guys,
Earlier this week, I visited the Bombay showroom of Genelec in Mahim, mainly to listen to the new Genelec DSP system. Prashant & Clifford gave me a complete presentation of the detail technical & design aspects of the system and it was well worth the visit there. I also had the opportunity to listen to the new Genelec 6010 + 5040 active loudspeaker system for computers. I must say that Genelec has done an excellent job with them and the sound is phenomenal for that tiny size. Do check them out whenever you can.

AVI is really proclaiming out loud the 'active' mantra here on this ADM 9.1 web page. True as can be, its a radical step towards the current trend I must say

The Audioengine A2 cost only 161 Euro + 5 Euro delivery on ebay. I think it´s a good deal. Look here and make a price offer:

http://cgi.ebay.de/w...IT&item=380116231243

I bought a pair of these juwels. Will tell when they arrived. ;-)
