HI Guys ,
i am in search of good hifi and i need some suggestions.
Right now i have arotel 940BX amp,Marantz Cd73 SE ,and PSB alpha mini speakers .

I like detailed crisp and accurate sound . no empasis on artificial bass.
My present system is very musical , but i want to upgrade teh speakers and amp atleast .My budget for both i 1 lakh .
I lsistened to KEF Q75 receltly and it seems a pile of rubbish!
but KEG Q7 seems ok with Denon PMA-2000
i need a powerful AND musical amp and a pair of monitors most probably with stands which i want to be most accurate and musical.
can anyone put some suggestions?
Thanks,
Suresh vipperla

to my mind/ears, you have three options in monitor speakers,
cadence arita
dynaudio 52/52se
quad 12L

for amps you have a nice musical amp in the audio analogue puccini, rega mira, cayin Ta30, cadence va 1.0hp, arcam A65 and A80 etc.

Does your current amp have a good pre-amp section, if so you could use your preamp section with a good power amp like the quad 99. If your cdp has a variable out then you dont need a preamp and could go for a power amp instead unless you need to use multiple sources.

My Rotel doesnt have a preamp section .abt audio analogue puccini, rega mira, cayin Ta30, cadence va 1.0hp, arcam A65 and A80 etc. where are these avilable? do they fall within my budget of 1 lakh for both amp and cd player? i listened recently to Denon PMA 2000 with KEF Q7 and they seem to match very nice... whats your opinion?

you said spkrs and amp....with the cdp your budget has to stretch more as you want all the good things audiophiles want and desire for 1 lakh :-)

nope I dont like the pma2000 and kef Q7 combo too much. I would rate it as decent. The amp I feel deservers better speakers. I've heard the pma2000 with the jamo D870 and that was quite an aural treat so the amp definately begs for a better speaker.

This is only my opinion, others may like the Q7 for what it is.....so if you did like it keep it as an option.

which city do you reside in sanathan ?

If you like a crisp sound, rega might not be a good bet.

Rotel/Cambridge Audio even marantz would be a good bet.(I ound Nad to be a bit on the warmer side)

would be a good idea to have the CDP/Amp from the same mfg/dealer as you would be able to demo them as a pair more easily .

If you can plan you budget, Arcam might be the best bet..followed by Rotel/cambridge audio (I rate both equally good) and then the marantz.
if you want to drive the Dyns, the Marantz might give you the best results.

for speakers, the Dyns are great and so are the AE..even the B&Ws might sound very good with the arcam or rotel..

above is just IMHO..tastes vary

Hi Thanks for the solid advice ,
yu are right , i tested the amp PMA 2000 with other speakers and I FELT that its the AMp that has guns .....
i will stick to marantz CD73 SE, i like its presentation .
I reside in chennai nowadays / suggest something in bang or chennai ...i dont mind even second hand as long as i get that musicality ...BTW my PSB's presents a ghost imaging for the amp i am using so yu can actually feel the recording hall!! or maybe my hearing is more 3D !!
thanks ,
Suresh

Does anybody know where Arcam /Cambridge is avilable?
Speakers now i have some choices ... good for me but amp i am still confused :-( i want a powerful amp but at the same time i want it to be delicate and musical :-)
can anybody suggest?
BTW i heard the Musical fidelity Nuvista when i was in US its awesome man! I felt the Denon PMA 2000 is very balanced and articulate but its overpriced in INDIa i guess ..teh folks at profx wouldnt come down from 65K bucks :-(

actually your speakers are pretty good..the rotel 940BX is , from what understand just an older version of the Rotel Ra01/02..the new ones having primarily a beefier power supply.

try listening to the PSB with an Arcam or even the marantz PM7200.(Even if it means lugging them to the dealers)

if possible change your CDP as well..clarity has a lot to do with the CDP !

For cambridge Audio in bangalore, You can get in touch with Prithvi (Member of this forum)

marantz 7200 is a nice amp and you may get to audition it at profx since they carried marantz. it also has a class A switch.

dyns will need a lot of juice to drive them.

Hi Sanathan,
Since you live in chennai, thought i'd share with u some experiences. Maybe this would help.
Jamo speakers are available at Digital World. This is on mount road (near sony world, VGP Mall -opp Hindu office/ Bata showroom). He should be willing to give you a good discount. I listened to the Yamaha amp + Jamo floorstanders and IMHO -decent.
Audio people is another good bet. They stock thiel, Mordaunt short, Klipsh, REL, Sunfire, Definitive Tech, etc. (www.theaudiopeople.net)
Where do you get Rotel in Chennai? I live there too and havent found a dealer for NAD/Rotel/Arcam.
thanks
