av revolution show- delhi

hi,
had the change to go for the show on saturday and sunday-
1stly the brands that came
jamo ,marage, sonodyne,B&W , onkyo, marantz, Mordaunt short- nakamichi, B&O,JBl ,H/K,NAD, play, telome
there was one hall for all the display , of which the major area was taken by large diplay panels- hitachi - LG samsung et al-Of all the brands that were supposed to come
and there were 10-12 rooms for demos in the "demo zone"

BOSE had their latest ht the lifestyle 48 with a hard disk that sorts polaylists etc etc- sad sounding vocals-
sonodyne had their new avant range in aluminium, and new preamp and power amp 6 channel HT setup-quite natural sounding - they also have a new sub with movie and music mode and variable crossover etc -the speaker package was for 1 lac- another 50k for the ampli's -i dont think many people would opt for a 1 lac package of sonodyne, with so many others in that range-
lakozy from bombay had his nad av receiver with a psb speaker setup and 3 subs- awesome system- you could feel that extra bass or drag-even the guy 'amit hasarmani' was very nice and explained things-
B&W had a silvery sat HT package for again a lac, they also had a pair of magnepan -ok

thought would get to see so many other brans esp the indian ones, torvin, space, pulz and sanen- but none were there- also there was this dvd which had clips of the hero, kill bill, etc etc and a couple of audio tracks - and everyone was playing that with the same clip from "the hero- jet li"-benefit being you you compare the same clip- but by the end i also learnt chinese -

more comes as i remember things-

for the last couple of years the av-max show has not been pulling as much crowd and brands for some reason :-(

wonder why ?

right manek-
there was hardly any "serious" people-the most serious demo was definitely by the lakozy gu mawud know him.

manek what would you say to the pricing of the sonodyne HT speaker setup at 1 lac,

there was a malaysian brand aso called "esota" - selling 2 towers + centre subs, all for 15k

even buttlicker was there with a weird cheap animated alien demo- very very sad-

yep...Avmax has been on the decline for a long time. First money issues, management issues and now brands leaving them as they must find the av-max show not the right podium to display their wares.

On the other hand the Times AV show does get a very good response comparatively...wonder if times show happens in other cities on only bombay.

oh...I stand corrected...nevertheless the times show in bombay does pull many serious brands...more than the av-max show did in the last couple of years....hope the times show in Bombay does not turn into a damper.

oh the buttkicker demo room has 3 rows to seats -
they even gave glasses to wear, to get the 3d experience,
(imagine my state i already wear glasses-

)
then animated aliens started of on their vehicles following a glass cube and the seats started rocking-
some time later the alien heads and brains began to glow-

hi guys,
hadn't been able to go the last couple of av max shows but got the chance to visit the times av revolution show, and was pretty dissapointed. firstly, many of the better brands were missing, like mission, cambridge audio, etc. i also found the displays to be quite a let down - no prices mentioned, none of the systems playing or even ready to play. but the biggest dissapointment was that even in the demo rooms one could only find home theatre set ups, no pure stereo demos except for the PLAY demo. and that was probably the saving grace for the Play set up consisting of an Audio Analogue CD, Prima Luna tube amp and Monitor Audio towers was outstanding. it surely was one of the cleanest sounding systems i've ever heard. but everyone else was playing movies! though lakozy's NAD and PSB set up did sound quite nice in stereo mode. but sadly that was it! and if, as you guys say, the av max shows are even worse then i dunno what to look forward to.
btw. does anyone over here have any comparison experience between NAD and audio analogue amps?

yes the play demo room was super-
it was playing some classical instruments , matka etc-
was real real cool-
the setup was super expensive..

Yes only Lakozy (NAD+PSB) and Play were worth a visit. The rest were targeted at mass market - "noisophiles" !!

NOISOPHILE is definitely a cool one-
at the show i guess 'creative' with their "THX"
comp speaker set,along with the malaysian brand 'esota'
topped the list-

oh...altec lansing with their computer speakers does the same in bombay shows.....
man I tried their demo room once and came out with my ears bleeding !

I happen to visit the last 2 AV max shows in Delhi and Mumbai.Both the shows were a super flop...no crowd...very less participation from the dealers...can anyone tell me why are they declining,because their chennai show was extremly good.
