DENON 1905 or HK AVR 235

hi,

my research for my home theatre continues-
saw some good things at a grey shop here-
denon 1905 for 22k -this guy had marantz and
yamaha avr's also-these hes selling with a 1 year warranty-
now its one's wish to tryust and buy tho'
they look genuine

also some taiwan made speakers by the name of RAVE-
8 ohms and power handling of 40-100 watts rms-
auditioned then was good for the asking price of 8k
for 5 speakers (2 towers + centre and surround , which are similar) also there was this 10" downfiring sub for an additional 8.5k

has anyone heard these "RAVE" speakers?
and which avr is a better option HK AVR 235 or DENON 1905 for both cinema and audio?

Sorry for pointing out the obvious. Have you tried A/B testing the speakers and receiver. Only you can tell what you like.

Do not have much experence with the HK line. I was very impressed by Denon (I believe it was 2803) for home theare application.

For both Cinema and Audio it is HK AVR235 for me.

Denon is good for Cinema only. (My two cents)

hi ben-

budget wud be about 30k-
getting the AVR from abroad to fit it in my budget-
room size wud be 22ft x 15ft -
percentage wud be 50:50 movies / music-
and type of music-
some popular, pink flyod, deep forest, robert miles, any world music- eagles, bryan adams etc etc

Hey ani,
pretty much my kind of music and my size room.
i feel that for ur budget the Wharfedale diamond 8.4s suit best and deliver the most bang for ur buck..
is the 30k for only the front speaker sor for the entire setup(am guessing its the former)

You would also get the Polk Audio Monitor60 speakers at about the similar price range.
You have to compare them yourself to arrive at your choice.

Am also in Delhi. Was told by the profx dealer (Trinity Sound and Vision GK1) that he was getting the entire Polk range (which will be introduced here)in about a week.

Also am in the process of setting up a first time hometheater system. Still got the sub to buy. Would you tell me about that 8.5k sub that you saw... What, where, how good ??? So far have located about 10 subs at diffrent prices and heard 6 of them. Waiting for the Polk and the Def Tech to arrive before buying.

Yamaha distributor in Delhi is ADR Systems at 33 National Park, Basement, Lajpat Nagar 4. Tel 26229701. Very helpful chap, will set up whatever you want so that you can check it out. Definitely cheaper than the retail - Bercos, Rythm Corner etc. I got my AVR from him.

Ask to hear his subs ! And if possible, the wow new YSP1. He had it last time I was there. He also deals in Space and in Cervin Wega. - These may interest you for good low budget stuff.
