Sound Bars

Hi guys,
I looking at an efficient option to a full blown 5.1/6.1 HT package. I do not have the space to acccomodate 5.1 speakers in my already crammed entertainment space.

The sound bars look like an attractive option.

I have 42" Sharp Aquos A66 LCD TV.

Any views?

I too would like inputs on this, and would have liked to consider Bar speakers for my bedroom. However, Im told that the surround sound imaging is not good, if they fire diagonally in the room (as is the situation in my bed room )

Krish,

Several months ago, I visited the BOSE showroom at the Atria Mall, and was Impressed with 2 speaker, systhesised surround sound demo.

The sound was FAR superior to a Sound Bar, and the Bass ofcourse in another league altogether.

Do give it a listen.

Even if you like it, dont commit on the spot. They called me a day or 2 latter offering me a discount if I bought within 7 days

Maybe that's another option

I've been looking for one (soundbar) to place under my Plasma TV too. Please let me know if you find anything good.

the Sonodyne can be avoided :(. I have the Bose VCS10 with AM3 fronts and that combination can be avoided too.

I thought the Phillips set was better

if you are looking at a Sound bar from a conveneince view, 3 satellite speakers with average Dispersion kept together in a line(front/center/back) , IMHO will give you far better sound and more controlled dispersion

Mirage Omni sat seri3es. fantastic diepsesion
Klipsch: very high sensitivity hence can use low power receivers as well.

If I had my way, I would really like to avoid the 5.1 route.Manek you will know why

I will have the advantage of having parallel walls flanking the sound bar on either side, so that should help (??)

Funny thing is that I was told that not too many places would be willing to demo a sound bar.Wonder why?

from what I have heard from the grape-vine Polk Audio soundbar is worth auditioning. Can be mated w/ their wireless subwoofer which makes it convenient.
