can anyone tell me this.Does the driver size really matter when considering a sub for home theatre use? like, 10" OR 8" size.Does it really impact the type of sound.Does 10" drivers make superior bass. Also does the number of woofers matter? like two 8" driver units? Can anyone suggest me a subwoofer model from the Sonodyne range.Im totally confused.i dont have a sonodyne showroom in 600Km radius, so there's no way for me to audition them,i hav to depend on others opinion, and buy it straight from sonodyne, thats why...what about the lithos sub Terra 150.

I feel the qualty of sub and built is what matters as well as SPL than the size.if it is of the same brand and built then I would choose a 10 incher as it can go down considerably than 8 incher...twin drivers are more efficient than single drivers.yes SONODYNE subs are good value for money.............ROOARRRRR series

Go in for Sonodyne confidently, they are excellent value for money and I bet you wouldn't expect more at that price. They have twin driver Sub at 17.5k (It can shake a theatre as it seems) and they also have single driver ones starting at 12k. Check out www.sonodyne.com. All their subs great quality product with greater sounds. If that suits your budget GO FOR IT. Yes, their 10" Subs sounds better than 8" ones. But nothing is above their twin driver (each 8") models, they are great and way above their single driver ones.

ABHI is right here.no matter how much you spend we should always get value for money .and of course SONODYNE is here since decades and you earn a good amount of respect among the audiophile community(not reffering to high end)

The Landmark-Huge bookstore in Forum is powered by Sonodyne.
Their Genie 1 and some different kind of wall mounted sub-woofer. But I have not seen that sub-woofer in their shop or on their website.

I agree the sound at Landmark in Forum is superb.

I can understand what you mean, I have also seen that setup in Forum Mall. Ok for that you have to adjust the volume level of your sub, but one thing is for sure if anything can give you that damn effect at this price range, then it is the Sonodynes but yes if you want to check out other models then I suggest you should go give an Ear Test to each of the products you find good in your budget. I hope you have access to visit the Sonodyne listening room, I suggest you to go there for 1-2 hrs and listen every model they have. They are very co-operative and they have adequate setup to give you all the demos.

I love to hear the bass from my ears so I went for 3-way floorstanders. When I'll want to hear the bass from the "other end", I'll buy subs - the earth-shattering or the bone-cracking sound - and, if I may add heart-rending.

Bumps on my butt is not music to my ears

You may differ ...

Thats the same with me but it is a matter of taste and choice. Some people look for that heavy under 30khz frequence response no matter where it comes from. For them subs are the best solution at a very low investment rather than going for a floorstanders giving such performance. I myself dont even think of subs for music but consider it a must for movies. But we have to understand the taste of the person who is looking for our suggestion . Hence I say go for Sonodyne Subs if at all

Do you know that most Subs available in the market don't go under 30 Hz? They don't even claim to be. E.g Sonodyne RoarR 2815 - their flagship model goes down to only 32 Hz.
Real Subs going down to 20 Hz or even below are really expensive (e.g. Rel, etc.)

Sanjay

yup if people would offer us subs for stones in return then i would prefer to have a REL or Sunfire or velodyne( list is endless)but the discussion out here is good sub at an affordable price.and ABHI you r right when you mentioned that some prefer to hear more bass and some prefer good mids...as every one makes it a point - one mans fish is another man's poisson.can't blame if i feel your choice is bad..or you think my choice is worse..........
