Hi !

On a scale of 10 this performance was a mere 4.

The Pianist - Igor Longato was fully off [time] most of the time.

Sandro Laffranchini (First Cello)
Fabrizio Meloni (First Clarinet)
Igor Longato (Piano)

This was not a performance to write home about.

Rather disappointing !

YEFIM BRONFMAN - is a GOD !!!!

26.11.2005.

This was the best performance of a Sonata I have ever heard in my life !!!!!

What an evening.

Beethoven # 13 & 14 were played with Johanes Brahms # 5.
The Encore was Scarleti & Chopian.

Mr. Yefim Bronfman played like a king. The performance was brilliant.

How I wish all the Forum members got the chance to attend this show. It would have been a real eye opener [ear cleaner] !!!!!!!!

Mehli Mehta Music Foundation & Dr. Hamied [Cipla] Congratulations [main sponsors] !!!!!

Thank you !

Regards,

I forgot to mention;

For the first time in my 6 years of attending classical concerts @ NCPA did I manage to get one of the best seats in the house for a 'sonata' / 'trio'

I was sitting in Row 'C' & Seat # '22'

This is 1 row in front of the 'main sponsors' place of seating !!!

All this for Free !!

This can happen only in India !!!

One of the worlds best pianist - great performance - wonderful hall / auditorium - brilliant seats !!

What else could one ask for ???

This was surely an evening to remember.

Regards,

BHAGWAN69

p.s. Great Prawns for dinner there after..........

Hi Bagwan69,

like you I was at the concert of trio della scala and I can say that the three musicians was really well together. I don't know why you had this feeling. But I must say that I know the pieces and for example in the NINO ROTA trio the three intruments play most of the time in 'CANONE' - one voice follows the others and they seem not together but they are!

In the Cesar Franck Sonata for violin and piano last mouvement is absolutely same: the two instruments play in CANONE, one start first mesure and the other starts one mesure after with the same theme, so they seem not together but they are. Anyway the first public critic of Franck sonata was absolutely like yours - they said that the duo was totally out in last mouvemnet and the writer - the critic - didn't even notice that it was a canone.

Also, did you notice that the clarinet player was Cristian Chiodi Latini instead of not Fabrizio Meloni, as you wrote??? And you must also say that - even when you didn't like it - it was for public a great success. I know the first violin of the chamber orchestra of Tata Theatre and he was very happy about it.

Be careful next time when you listen a concert! there is always something new to discover.

Bye. your KALI
