Buddy Guy Live in Concert

Blues Music Concert
Jamshed Bhabha Theatre
Sat. 17th – 8:00 pm

An exclusive event.

Buddy Guy is one of the greatest living exponents of classic Chicago electric blues. He is a thrillingly inventive guitarist, a passionately soulful singer, and a peerless showman. In the course of a 45-year professional career, he has sold over two million albums, earned four Grammy Awards; and won nineteen WC Handy Blues Awards – more than any other single artiste. High-energy guitar histrionics, a distinctive vocal style and great onstage vitality have been his trademarks. Eric Clapton hails him as his favourite blues axeman.

Tickets: Rs.1,500/-.

Tickets will be available at the NCPA Box Office and also at the Rhythm House from December 5.

The concert was co-sponsored by JW and Black Label was being served.

Any one attended the concert ?

How was it ?

What speakers were they using ?

Milind Deora was also performing, so I was told.

I was at 'sangat' hence could not attend.

Smokin'

My cup of joy runneth over.

First Knofler in March, then Charlie Mariano,Jonas Hellborg and gang at the Jazz Utsav a few weeks back ( which if you please was free) and then Buddy Guy last Saturday.

Buddy Guy played loud, and perhaps the Jamshed Bhabha auditorium was not the perfect venue for a electric blues concert.

That having been said the concert itself was a blast.Buddy Guy is a entertainer first and last.To me the highpoint was when he played 'Mustang Sally'. Also amusing and awesome were his impersonations of Johnny Lee Hooker, Clapton and Hendrix ( who incidentally ended copying Buddy Guy's flamboyant guitar playing style )

All in all an enjoyable evening.

...and young Milind Deora has some pretty good chops.
