Searching for a new amplifier

no i dont know the onix amp. so you got a quite new technics amp and you don't like it any more?

Nope, but I see that I can buy something better now that I´ve got a little more money, and that´s waht I want to do. Anyway this Technics is not any great thing, and I want to level up a little my system.

By the way, my intention is to expend 500 EURO - $.

Its pretty transparent, bass is slightly muddy but goes pretty low, mids and highs are detailed.

Loud volumes may sound harsh...thats what my other pal says....

nad c350 is at about $500, c370 at $800, maybe you can get this one used? c370 is really good.

I´m searchinf for a TOTALLY PLAIN amplifier, with no bass/treble regulator or something like that. I can´t see now if those amps are plain, can you tell me please?

nad ...has a defeat switch which really works well...the bass and trebel controls only work on the extreme ends of the sound spectrum, mids are not touched at all.

NAD is also pretty pretty good. Sledge is right.

If you don't like a bass/tremble regulator you can either buy an amp without it or with a source-direct switch? That may solve your problem, too.

Of course there are direct sources, but electronically the amps are better when they have not any regulator. Only the volume and channel selectors. Maybe a mute button too, but anything else.

I can vouch for my nad..the tone defeat switch works really well...no issues....
In entry level amps most probably you will find tone controls but another option would be to buy a passive preamp with source selector and volume control and connect it to am power amp.

You could try getting a used passive and power amp to save on costs...but make sure your Cd player has an output of more than 2.2 volts.

i dont think the amps are really better if they dont have any regulator. maybe they are some examples that are. but there are amps with regulators plaing very good too! so i wouldnt only search amps without regulators. all nad amps have regulators. marantz as far as i know too.

Someone that has been working all his life with the electronic, since he was a little boy, and always has been an audiophile has said it to me. And that´s what I´ve seen on the amps I have tested... he always opens the amplifiers to see what´s waiting inside and sees the schemas of all the electronical parts of the amplifiers he tests. He´s tested a lot of amplifiers and I´m sure he knows what is saying.

Anyway I can´t sell my amp, I don´t find anybody who wants it, so I´ll stay with this amp by now, a pair of years or so, and then I´ll spend about 2000 EURO on a good one. Probably a Musical Fidelity one. Plain

By the way I have bought a new pair of 603 (I don´t know if I said it, cause I´ve been really ill).

Nope, not yet. But I´m sure the vibrations I heard weren´t normal. Possibly they have a vibration, but a little one. The vibration I spoke was a HORRIBLE one. And if that was normal, they won´t sell any 603.

This time I can´t change them, but I´m sure it will be better this time. And if not... at least I could listen to anything I like, cause I like its sound very much, very very much, specially with my father´s system.

My speakers have just arrived, I´ll start a serious test this afternoon.

I haven´t sell my amp yet, so I can´t buy another one, and this will be a good moment to do it, but anyone here wants an amplifier, they´re all happy with their shitty 100 euro compact systems

No unwanted sounds on my speakers by now

Anyway I must test them a lot yet. I hope it was only a problem of those speakers concretely and the ones I have now don´t have it.
