Advice wanted on stereo system for ~ Rs 30,000/-

Hi,
I am looking for a simple audio stereo setup, one amp, and two good speakers. My price range is around Rs. 30,000/- and I am looking in Delhi.
Here is what I have narrowed it down to
1) Nakra (EnBee) system AMP + Speakers
2) Nakra (EnBee) AMP + Sonodyne 2605 speakers
3) Sonodyne SA 8000 AMP + Sonodyne 2605 speakers
4) Cheap Yamaha AMP + Kef Cresta30 (?) speakers

I have heard 1,3,4 and they were okay. The EnBee sounds good but is a one man operation.. Any advice on these choices would help greatly.

If you think you will upgrade anytime in the future go for option 4 as you will have a very good budget speaker and you can change your amp later.

if you are very sure that you can live with the system for a very long time , go for option 3.

ideally compare options 3 & 4 in detail and make you decision, you will get lot of info on how to compare systems from the net (Try Google)

Have absolutely no idea about Nakra/EnBee..if no one else in the forum is aware of them then you can safely give it a miss !

Enbee...now thats a name I have not heard in years ! it used to be a nice local amp many years ago. didn't know it still existed.....dont know what enbee looks like or sounds like now.

For low budget maximum bang for the money in delhi, you could get in touch with viren bakhshi at

www.lyrita-audio.com

He makes some very decent speakers and is a no-nonsense guy.You could get some pulz or norge amps to go with them.

Forget SA8000, its crap. Better go for Pulz or even Yamaha. I dont know which Yamaha amp you have mentioned but I have seen few entry level yamaha stereo amp, they perform well. About speakers, again Sonodyne 2605/Wharfdale 8.4s, both are good, Kef cresta I havent auditioned so cant say much. Take a look at wharfdale before making your final selction and avoid SA8000.

hey guys,

Pulz has a power amp RS250 I think, its a dual mono design with a volume control. No multiple line level selector switch. I think its costs about 9k. For guys who dont use more than one source and was a good local entry level amp with power, this just could be it.

Infact Lyrita makes some Valve based pre,integrated amps,as well,and at a decent price as well..10 W Valve amp costs 10000/-INR only..
Has anyone auditioned these Lyrita products?

Hi,
Thanks for all the replies. I will check out the Lyrita stereo. The others are I guess only in Mumbai so it would be difficult to check them out.

EnBee is run by an old gentleman Mr. Nakra and I guess it sounds and looks the same as it did years ago.

just went rhough the website....
They have qute a range of amps, ss integrated and valve integrated, preamps, monoblocks....

anyone heard the valve or solid state preamp ?

Sound's convincing. Must visit their Pune distributor one of these days.

Also a good collection on Jazz and blues on the site.

I must say that the products featured on the web 'sound' impressive.

It would be nice if one of you folks from Dilli could audition Lyrita gear and gives us your opinion here, on the forum.

I spoke to viren Bakshi and he agreed to sell an Amp which I could give back if not satisfied. I am planning to take a tube. Any suggestions?

Just go ahead. Viren is a great guy, very passoionate about audio and his stuff is great. I heard his spks and pre/pwrs when I was in delhi few years back. That time he did not have his tube amps out i guess.

Must do a listen next visit to delhi.
