I am sorry for my 'sucking advice'

Just one small piece of information [probably you must be aware of it]; Import Duty in Singapore [GST] is @ 7 % & in U.A.E. it is @ 5 %.

In India, the rates are 42 % [Import Duty - net] + 5.5 % Octroi + 12.5 % VAT.

However much the D/D tries to, he is forced to pay the 'Import Duty' & 'Local Taxes' etc. Hence, the price is what it is at. I too do not like it, but that is a problem with the system, and none of us can help that !!

Not With Standing, each time you want some gear, one can and has the option to get it from Singapore or Dubai etc.

But, I would not go to the extent of calling all D & D a 'rip-off'.

Most Indian D & D will match US Retail Prices on audio gear, may even offer 5 % to 10 % off on that. While I have never come across any D / D in Singapore or Dubai that has ever offered more than 25 % to 30 % off on the US $ retail price, so the dfference in the price is not as much as you suggest it is. I may be wrong here, since I Have not purchased and Low-Fi or Mid-Fi gear for the last 3 to 4 years !!

I am sure you know that US street prices are very different from the retail prices.

So, where is the big deal if an Indian dealer matches US retail prices. Very few people actually buy at US retail prices abroad...

not to forget ....the US retail prices have a decent margin on the products.....

What indians must get is a
distributor price+duties+local taxes+dealer margins
kind of equation and not a
retail price(US or Europe)+duties+local taxes+dealer margins

The price quoted for the NADC320 BEE is 199 pounds on HiFi choice website, which is around Rs. 16K. The price quoted at music ranch is 21K.
The piece is made in China and the NAD website does not list India among the places it provides customer support.
As I want to invest in the amp as a long term option, is it OK to buy it? What is the experience of users reg. the build quality ( The made in China ones, not the UK NADs )

Check the NAD site under 'dealers' & you'll find Lakozy mentioned.

As for NAD Made in China, there's nothing wrong with this. Most manufacturing companies have now slowly moved to China in order to cut costs but they haven't skimped on the quality. Look around you - even your Nokia phone is Made in China.

Thanks for the reassurance. Just one thing, I'm not getting it directly from Lakozy( R they from Mumbai? ). If I decide on it I'll be getting it from Musicranch, Bangalore. Is that OK?

Even I was willing to get NAD through Music Ranch but the problem is most of the time the item is not in his stock. Sure he will get it for you if you order. But you cannot audition the piece before you order at his place. I hope you have auditioned the product somewhere...(Although NAD is a safe bet)

The Music Ranch guy once offered me the demo piece (in price of new) claiming the piece is absolutely new (A Yamaha AVR). So before accepting the product make sure that you are getting a new piece and not a used one.

Also clarify the warranty terms before ordering.
