Ipod adaptor for Car

Can any of you give me some insite about the different makes for after market ipod adaptors for cars?

I would like to install this without having to drill any holes in the dashbord or anywhere else.

Hi! Cheraz,

The IPOD connector depends on your head unit. Today most of the headunits are IPOD ready. For those that are not you get IPOD adapters. Saw some kenwood one at PFM. Try there.

The other easy way is to use the "iTRIP" and stream ur music thru FM. There is also a tape adapter, but I guess now days so many guys have CD units and if its an old one they use the ITrip from Grippen.

I tried iTrip but the quality is not too good but again it is an option !

In fact the Headphone Jack to Cassette adaptor (In case your head unit has a Cassette drive) was better for me. (I had an old Sony Explode unit which played both tape and CD)

Else no other options ..

Have used a itrip but as Arj said quality was very bad. Also the problem using the itrip or cassette adaptor is the charging. I am looking at something that will charge the ipod whilst music is played.

Saw the JBL ipod adaptor witha digital display. But this has to be screwed on to the dashboard or maybe can be stuck with a 2 sided tape. Don`t know if it will stay secured. This one also has a knob control which can be used for easy menu navigation. But all this comes at a steep price (Rs. 15,000). Found that a bit too much.

Any other good brands?

This charges while the ipod is being played. I bought it recently for 1800/ at the Apple shop in Forum, Bangalore. Sounds good, only pl be careful if you have one of those heads that have be be opened to insert a cassette..make sure that the head closes or at least closes enough to adjust volume control etc.

jsa_ind I saw your Ram mounts. But that either needs a itrip or a cassette adaptor as in Jeeves model. Want I want is an internal connection thru the Aux port. But it should have an external display and navigational tool. The ipod could be kept in the glove compartment for all I care.
