Hi!

First I want only to listen stereo music.
Then I figure it out that it will be better
to buy a AV reciver .

My list of recivers is: Yamaha RX-V640
or Pioneer VSX-D812/912 or maybe Sony 790.

I am not a audiofill that all things must be a-class
becouse of money

I am someting in the middle.

My first target is to listen music from cd,turntable,...
and then dvd movies. I heard that AV recivers
arent good for HI-FI stereo music listening?

I read review (area dvd) of Yamaha 640 and
so far i heard all good things

And for speakers I will buy Bose Acoustimass 6.
All of these components will be in small living room
(20-30m2).

I would like to hear your experience and advices.
Is this good solution for small room and high quality
music listening?

Best regards,
Robert

hi robert....

if your are buying bose acoustimass then why dont you also buy the AV reveiver/signal processor that bose sells along with it ? that will work best....Yamaha 640 is not bad but I would recommend an entry level denon, marantz.

Hi!

"if your are buying bose acoustimass then why dont you also buy the AV reveiver/signal processor that bose sells along with it ?"

Because for example: Then I would have to buy Lifestyle 18 System (in usa 2000$) in my country and in all Europe is this system two times less affordable (4000-5000$) like in USA.

Whatsoever I have marantz stereo amp in other place.
Its good but I think that yamaha or pioneer is
more tech advanced in middle class.

Basicly I would like to listen music (high fidelty),
and then I look in future and I would also
like home cinema

Maybe I need to look for others speakers JBL,..or not??

Manek thank you for advice!

Best regard,
Robert

I prefer marantz AV receivers to yamaha and pioneer. I also like denon and Onkyo....they have all the bells and whistles of the yamaha and pioneer and they sound much much better. yes..they do cost a bit more but then you get beter sound.

Home theater speaker sets are available a dime a dozen. You should decide whether you want the satellite/sub variety like bose or a full fleged floorstander as fronts with sub and dipole/monopole surrounds and then make a choice.

Hi!

I want a satellite/sub variety because I have small
room.

Do you have any experiance with JBL, Infinity,.. or do you know any other factory that produces a good speakers?

Are Bose speakers really that bad like I read in forums?

Robert

bose used to be good until a lot of the speaker manufacturers caught up with them.

Acoustimass 6 is OK. I heard it in the bose showroom and its pretty neat. I would not use JBL...too harsh for my ears. Infinity again from the Harman Kardon group is a much better product.

Klpisch makes vary good and cute horn based satellites and sub combo, sounds good too...Definitive technology also is quite nice.

I suggest you hear all of the above and then choose, maybe you might like bose the best. Buy the stuff which you like and not what people say but hear it first. make sure that the high's are not very bright otherwise it will give you a earache and ear fatigue.

Go for a system where you can hear complete words in music and dialogue. That means the mids are clear.

try to hear the abover speakers with the amp of your choice.

Just one more question:

Bose acoustimass 6 are 5.1 system.
And is there big diference in 6.1 system?
How can I then upgrade acoustimass 6 speakers?
Can I do that with Bose center VCS-10?
Any idea?

Thank you,

Best regards,
Robert

atleast make sure your AV receiver has 6.1. then connect the extra speaker.

5.1 includes 2 fronts, two rears, one centre and a sub.

Kef also makes good satellite/sub combo...check that out.

manek.

Hey!
Do you have a kef dealer near to you? If yes take a look at the smaller kef speakers. Another possible brand would be canton. Mabye b&w, but this may get above your limit.

kef slightly better than bose in some respects....avoid bose...there is a big whole between the midrange anf the lows....no lower mids at all.

I went to listen some speakers.
And Kef 2005 is not that system that
I was looking for. Neather do Bose.
Bose are over-priced specially in my country.

I need some wood speakers
I listed Dali Blue florstanding speakers
salesman told me that this speakers is good for
yamaha reciver 640,...

But I think that I will buy B&W (600 or 300series) or Wharfedale (pacific evo) front and rear Bookshelf because of space or something like that and sub and center.

Do you have some experiance aboute B&W or Wharfedale or Klipsch?
What do you recommend me?

Best regards!

I can talk you about B&W... I´ve made a lot of tests with 603 S3 and CDM7 Special Edition. The 300 series you refer to it´s a good and specially a CHEAP speaker. But if you like a good and strong bass look for 600 series. The 300 series has a good middle and specially tweeter (I like it at least the same as mine).

You can look for 602 too (601 is like 300 series, it hasn´t got a specially good bass) but 602 is a little better. If you want a bookshelf better search for a 300 series or a 602 S3.

If you´re looking for floorstanders I hace a pair of 603 S3 and I´m happy with them, but if you have a big auditory 604 S3 is a better option, it has a stronger and better bass.

Anyway I think 600 series is for Home Cinema better.

I can´t tell you about the other two options you say.

I read that AV recivers has a low fidelty
of reproducing music, what do you think about that?

Is Yahama 640 good HiFi amp also for music?
My first priority is to listen music,
but I would also like to liste SACDs,..
...than I have to buy a good stereo amp
like Marantz PM7200 and two good speakers, or what?

Is there any high fidelty AV reciver for up to 1000$?

Hi Robert,

If your preference is really music/stereo you might have to stock up your budget. A/V amps that are also good with music are very rare or very expensive. Better stick to a good stereo amp.

If you still want to go ahead with surround amp then look at Arcam, NAD or Rotel. Those are also good in reproducing music.

Cheers

Hi!

Now I will buy a stereo amp Marantz PM7200 or
maybe Rotel RA-1062 and an unniversal player maybe
pioneer or denon.

Is Rotel amp so better that is worth to spend some
more money?(I will listen SACDs, CDs, Vinyls,DVD-A and my speakers will be Wharfedale pacific evo 30)

Best regards,
Robert

go for the B&W's rather than the wharfedates....
rotels I always found grainy and bright but powerfull. i dont like grainy and bright...i would personally go for NAD or Arcam rather than rotel.
