Dear Buxx !!!

You may contact Sharda Pro-Acoustics S-block Panchsheel Park and these guy will be able to help you with the setup.

Or invite us over for dinner - Viren, Kamal, Rahul, Sunilyo, me, etc. and we may be able to "help" you

@sdhawan:Thx for the offer!Tho i managed to install it myself with the help of the local electrician!! Just had to use the wire cutter & splicer to put teh 20AWG OFC Spkr cable into the banana plugs. Connecting the Speakers,DVD Player,STB to the AVR was tedious but not difficult.Took me 3 long hrs-but i managed to get everything up & running..

Great !

Now you must run the setup of the AVR while sitting in the listening position.

i hav tried to setup the dB levels of the speakers as best i could, but the test noise from the Front Left channel sounds very different from all the others!!
Wud u know whether teh SR4001 can upconvert Composite-> Component??
how much break-in do these spkrs need anyways?

I have SR-4500 and it cannot up-convert composite to component. I think it doesn't anything to the video signal at all except for switching.

For setting up dB, you just need to match the sound level from all speakers at your listening position. The characte of the tone produced will differ with the type of speaker and is especially very different from the sub.

I don't know how much is the optimal breakin time - just keep playing & enjoying.

I strongly recommend that you buy these DVDs for the thrills:

-Gladiator
-Hero (English - actually Chinese)
-Pearl Harbor
-Saving Private Ryan
-Lord of Rings
-iRobots
-Finding Nemo

just one more question for u sanjay!
wat shud i set the LPF/HPF setting in the SR4001 to? its at 100Hz now.It has a option for 80Hz also.

I hav no sub, and the M34i r rated 44Hz-20Khz. The centre is 80Hz-20Khz, and the Rear Surrounds at 110Hz-20Khz.

i set up the AVR at 80Hz once and once during a movie; "The Hills have eyes" the AVR went into "Protect" mode.. Tho there was a problem in my APC inverter at that time.. i changed it bac to 100Hz after that incident..

here's a pic of my setup!

Hi !

Sorry I looked at this post only today.

If you do not have a Sub then (perhaps) the LPF/HPF setting has no role to play - because it normally decide the frequency level below which the signal is sent to the Sub.

You should set your Sub=No (or absent), the left, right & center speaker and large and the surrounds as small. If you hear distortion from the center then set it to small as well.

Let me know the result.

And I don't think it's a good idea running your system through inverter - it would introduce a lot of electrical noise. Instead use a good transformer.

hi !
thx for replying !

I emailed Marantz abt it & they said to keep it at 100Hz & thats wat i hav done now..

I dont run my HT setup thro the Inverter- there was a spike or something in the mains supply that may hav contributed to the AVR going into "protect" mode or maybe the volume was just too high or something.. hasnt happened since.. Thank god !

P.S: Any good surge protector/powerstrip that u can recommend?
Am using a "MX" brand powerstrip as of now..
Or maybe i shud just use a Voltage stabiliser ?

Hi !

Make sure the speaker wiring is not getting short anywhere. That can lead to AVR going into protect mode.
