Guys,
I came to know that the Velodyne raange of Subwoofers are the best and the guy from Music Ranch is dealing with the same. Any suggesstions or comments on the same?

I heard the KEF Q5 after taking a demo of the Polk's M50 and M70, all I can say is, it sounded bad. With all the drivers in one tall box, it still dint sound great.

The KEF's Q5 sounded excellent and Iam plannin to take a demo of the Wharfedale's series of speakers.

Guys please give me suggesstion on SUB woofers please.

what music did you use to test the Polk Vs Kef comparo ? Did you try something like the Dire Straits ?
I found the Kef Q5 to be swallowing in some instruments

Abhi,
I did not try DIre Straits. Heard the good old eagles and mark Knofler. Well by the looks of it, I guess Polk has won your heart. The M series sounded too high with the lows just not being let out ahead from within the box.

And hey Abhi tell me about Velodyne subs and your comments on it and also where in Chennai can I get it and most importantly how much does it cost?

Ya I did like the looks but anyway that does not set a criteria to evaluate the sound because in the last 4-5 months I have auditioned quite a few good looking speakers so I am somewhat resistant to looks.

But yes as you said they did sound bright and when you compare them with Kef Q series then you will definitely not be satisfied with Bass of the Polks...but then the Q5 had its own shortcomings IMO, just try out 'Sultans of Swing' from Dire Straits, you will immediately know what I was talking about. Me too is a great BASS fan and for that I love the Q7

but if I pay 65k for a Q7 then I would definitely see that they dont lack in any aspect when compared to the Polk M70 (at 33k) !!!! But they did lack, the Polks were more dynamic (except for that extra low extended Bass which was there in Kef and not in Polks).

Anyways "TO EACH HIS OWN" is the Guru Mantra of HiFi. About the Velodynes, I too have seen them at Music Ranch and they are suppposed to be great but neither I have auditioned them nor any research !! Sorry man !!!
