Well 5 bawas and 2 non bawas ( one of them is a suspect bawa), top notch single malts and liquers, rocking mutton biryani, a little bit of hi-fi and speaker positioning. Boring, as there were no naked women to talk hi-fi with while sitting on our laps.

This is a bit strange, even @ my place there were 5 bawa's and 2 non bawa's.
2 of the Bawa's left after my place & 2 more joined in @ A.N.'s place after 2100 hours. Ratio remained constant.

we first met @ my place @ 1900 hours & moved on to A.N.'s place @ 2100 hours.

The hospitality @ AN's place was awesome. Great snacks & lovely food. I need to learn from him how such parties are to be hosted. Well done AN. I was impressed !!

All said, this was a social get together. Not much audio can be done. Too many people & no serious listening can be done. But fun - none the less.

Hey Bhagwan !

You are VERY kind with your comments.

It was REALLY a simple 1 course meal

Infact thanks to you and your wife for YOUR generous hospitality. The Snacks & sandwiches were YUM

I TOTALLY agree with your summary of the evening :

All said, this was a social get together. Not much audio can be done. Too many people & no serious listening can be done. But fun - none the less.

That is why I did not post on the topic even when asked by forum members.

It was nice to meet and get to know a forum member - nietzsche - from Bangalore. THAT is why we met in the 1st place, though it was mid week.

What REALLY gets my goat are scarci comments & smiles from Forum members .. yes - zhopudey this time.

I wonder what is up his gander ? It was an open invite, for all. I recall YOU 'zhopudey' had visited some months ago, against a similar invite.

I had got some similar scarci comments from other B'lore based forum members, several months, when I had thrown my first invite ?

Are such meetings socially / politically unacceptable ???

Why do they deserve your publicly expressed sarcasm ?

Do explain - I am also referring to the B’lore forum member who had posted. Trust he will not bury his head in the ground like an Ostrich. I do not recall who it was, he is not worth going thru the trouble of browsing the archives.

Hey AmpNut ,
Don't be, it was a fabulous evening, you are a really rocking host, but the reason I did not say good things earlier was the typical response it will get, like,
I wish I could make it
Got caught up in some work
Had some prior engagement
Shit I didn't know it was free, I thought I had to pay.(just kidding)

Anyways, 5 bawas 2 non bawas gain, and others' loss.

Whoa! I didn't know such a small post of mine would upset you Sorry about that.
The " " was because I looked forward to your invite, but then got tied up in work and couldn't make it.

Why did you think it was a sarcastic commment?

Our Gain;
Others Loss !!

I look forward to more meetings like this @ different forum members place !!! Simple food & drinks are cool. It is the hospitality that is important. The intent is what I like, not the result.

Thanks again - A.N. I really enjoyed the evening.

I would think that or would better convey "Looking Forward To An Invite".

I also mentioned this in my post dated Jul 21. 2007, 16:39 on this same thread, addressed SPECIFICALLY to you, which you ignored...

Amp_Nut, if I may be permitted to write this, IMHO you are being rather sensitive to the various emotion icons! After hanging out here w/ all of you for over 1 year I find that while some of the members might be unsophisticated in their Internet/on-line etiquette, they do not have mal-intentions.
Relax man! Or, as that dialogue line from K3G: "Amp_Nut, take a chill pill!"
We all appreciate your generosity in extending an open invitation to your house that included dinner & drinks on a weekday night!
I hope that you grow a thicker skin the next time around.

BTW, i loooooooovvvvve mutton biryani. If I was in BOM, if for nothing else, I would showed up for the biryani!

Great eyeball meet

Bhagwan, Your valve amplifier paired with sonus faber speakers is damn good. Elegant set-up. Mutton Biriyani was delicious.

MBJ, your set-up is awesome. Thanks a lot for allowing me to audition your grand set-up. Wow, total audio-ultimate bliss.

Hi Nietzsche,

Thanks for your kind words.

Was very nice of you to put time aside on your busy trip to Mumbai last week.

It also served as a catalyst for other forum members in Mumbai to meet, l;ast week, after a long time.

Sir,

Thanks for those kind words.

Just some small corrections,
The 2nd set up was Amp Nuts [along with the Mutton Biryani]
Denon SACD Player + Prima Luna [tube] integrated amplifier + Sonus Faber - Extrema - Speakers [Dynaudio Esotar Tweeter + Audo Technology Woofer - not sure. Maybe it is a paper cabon woofer from Scanspeak ! ].

You are most welcome to my humble home at any time for a listen. It was a pleasure to have you home.

P.S. Small request, please do call us by our 'moniker names' on the forum - that would be appreciated by me at least - no real names please. Thanks. In the PM you may call us by our real names - that is OK.

The most significant audio related result for me that evening, was a new speaker placement, done for me at my place, pains-takingly by 'Deaf' & 'Switch-it-on'.

They have placed my speakers twice before, but in both those instances, the speakers were place far away from the rear wall, and as a result, were less acceptable to the rest of the family { wife for obvious reasons, and the kids could not tease and chase each other in the living room }

This time around, the speakers are about 18 to 24 inches away from the rear wall, and blend in perfectly with the room decor.

Best of all, the Bass is NOT bloated, the sound stage extends from speaker to speaker ( and sometimes beyond ) and the soundstage depth - for the first time, is a touch deeper than the rear wall.
I am VERY happy, just have not had enough time & opportunity for music in the past few days.

Guys, Pay more attention to speaker positioning.
Can improve the sound, FAR more than an interconnect....

But to get it right, frankly you need master ears like 'deaf' and 'swtch-it-on'

THANKS 'Deaf' & 'Switch-it-on'... REALLY appreciated.

Dear Amp_Nut,
It is a pleasure to be of service to you. The technique used this time was around was more scientific than the random work done the previous 2 times. The result was quite interesting, closer to the rear wall, but actually no bass boom or heaviness. The sound was indeed very nimble if I may use the term, and very un-audiophile in tone, nice.

I wish I could have been there.....
But we in Delhi have our get togethers too!

Small request, please do call us by our 'moniker names' on the forum

Actually & personally speaking, I found it quite nice to read the real names behind the Noms-de-plumes-you can relate to these more...
