Hello,

sorry for my english, but my deutch is inexistant.

I have a NR5000 and I would like to ask owner of this wonderfull receiver to test something.

I use a MAIN A 7.1 config and a MAIN B Stéréo config Bi-Amp actually

In the manual it is mentionned than we can configure SPEAKER A as MAIN A and SPEAKER B as MAIN A too with the SurrBack in Bi-Amp mode. But on my receiver, as soon as select Main A in Sp B, I can't select Bi-Amp in SurrBack...

Thanks for checking.

I use firmware 1.06, I heard that 1.09 is available... has somebody this version ?

Thanks !

Hi,

it's a little hard to follow your setup description. The idea of bi-amping is that you connect your front speakers to Main A and Surround Back. There are 7 amplifiers inside the receiver, so you can't have 7.1 setup running with bi-amping for the fronts without external amplifiers (as you need 4 amplifiers for the front instead of 2). Does this help you? Or did I misunderstand your question.
Regarding the firmware, I have 1.08 installed and 1.09 downloaded but not installed. 1.08 was a major improvement, I personally saw no reason to upgrade to 1.09. If you want to have one of the firmwares, you can send me your e-mail address via PM. But please be careful what you do, as you know a firmware update is always a more or less high risk.

Best regards,
mr. pink

Hi mr.Pink,

Thanks for your answer, I will try to make it clearer.

In the manual (English page 23) of the NR5000, you can make a configuration like this :

1-1.Speaker Config
=====================
Speaker A
a.Front L/R :Main A
b.Center :Main A
c.Surr L/R :Main A
d.Surr Back :Main A 2ch
e.Subwoofer :Main A

Speaker B
f.Front L/R :Main A
g.Center :Not Used
h.Surr L/R :Not Used
i.Surr Back :BiAmp for Front
j.Subwoofer :Not Used

The advantage of select MainA for speaker B is that you can select either Speaker A or Speaker B in the Listening mode setup. So for movie in DD5.1 you select Speaker A and for a good CD Audio in Stereo mode, you select Speaker B.

But the problem is that, when I select main A in the point f., I can't select Bi-Amp in i. point.

I hope it's better explained now

Could you check if you can please.
Thanks in advance.

Concerning firmware 1.08, have you the file for NR5000 ?

Hi,

yes, I have the firmwares 1.08 and 1.09 for the TX-NR5000E. I would recommend you to go for an update, as the 1.06 had some strange bugs. However, I don't know whether your particular problem will be solved as well, but I will check how my receiver reacts.

Best regards,
mr. pink
