Sub_Boss,
If I didn't know better, I'd say that you need to quickly get on to another forum titled AA

Hi Guys,
My two bits on the category of FOOLS. Some 15 years ago I read good reviews of the Cyrus One Amplifier, and heard it not extensively but more than once. Then I bought it. I liked the amp for the first couple of years, but gradually I started to find it to be too aggresive and sharp. The detail became tiring and I longed for a gentler sound. At that time I had also auditioned the Musical fidelity A1 and rejected it for the reasons that it was not as sharp and detailed as the Cyrus. Did I make the right choice? I believe that reviewers have a much more extensive experience of not just equipment but of the long term interface between kit and human tastes. When I read a reviewer I try and assess his tastes, are they similar to mine, can I benefit from his experience. I bought my turntable entirely on reviews and am quite happy with my choice. More recently I chose the speakers based on reviews and an acquaintaince with the general type of sound the company produces. It is difficult to make a very poor choice with well established products conservatively chosen. It may be suboptimal to make a choice only on review, but sometimes - for a person located unfavourably -there is no other choice.

i find the most logical thing to do, whereever you stay, is firstly just get information on what brands are available around or what can be made available, second, listen to as many of them as possible to get to know your own tastes, then check out the reviews just to know the things that you mite've missed out abt the product...things like the VFM standing, durability and most of all what experts/professionls think of it...also a bit of comparison with other products in the same range, theoritically, helps...

Dude,
I think you need to read posts carefully rather than jumping the gun. Nobody is asking anybody to buy anything based on reviews. Reviews are a good guideline for anybody when they shortlist any audio equipment. If you keep reading good audio-mags/sites you get a fair idea of any reviewer’s taste. It helps greatly if you acquainted with the reviewer’s taste. This applies to advices from fellow audiophiles too. I know a couple of audiophiles whose advice is not valid for me because their idea of good sound is very different from mine. Is their advice bad ? Definitely not ! But it is not valid for me. I generally seek advice from people who have similar tastes as mine. It usually works like a charm.
And then there are souls who are forced to buy equipment without audition due to peculiarities like geographic location, non-availability etc…For them, Purnendu’s advice is very valid.

Spot on..... hammered a nail on forehead..tell me how the heck will you know what an equipment sounds like unless you read reviews..I know we don't buy em like blind cows but do some research also....BTW TJ if you feel you can buy desired stuff without reviews then you are a super human..I'm not

Yes they are Class A and consume power like it costs 25p per unit and emits lot of heat.I have just one power amp and it's a killer enough even though a pretty aged one.

how much power do you take off the National grid

Well it's more important how much I fund the national grid authority thru heavy current bills.
