Cud someone give a review on Wharfedale 9.1/9.2 Bookshelf speakers?
As per the Product Manual, the nominal impedance shows 6 ohms, but will it function normally with an 8 ohm Amp?
How is the Wharfdale 9.1/9.2 for Movies & Muzik?

If the amp clearly asks you stay away from anything lower than 8ohms, stay away from 6 ohm speakers. During music passages they won't stay at 6 ohms. They will dip again and this is asking for trouble. Most amps are 4 ohm to 16 ohm which is pretty safe with most speakers.

The 9.1 are pretty good with the mids and highs. Low end will be lacking when you use them with movies. You may need a sub woofer.

I was previously using a Sansui AU 217 amplifier which stated on the rear panel "Speaker impedance to be 8 ohms or higher". I used it with a speaker impedance of 4 ohms and nothing ever happened even with it being driven at high volumes.

This may be an exception rather than the rule, but its better to be safe than sorry.

This is actually a design issue. Most older sansui amps are build like tanks. I had one long back and was using it with a bose 401 which was a 4ohm speaker and nothing happened. But I sold the speaker to a friend and he blew his technics amp which was rated at 8ohms. If the poster has a well designed amp with good power supplies, it could be safe.........

square_wave, I agree with you.

Generally, the amps that have Integrated Circuits (ICs) as their output power devices are fragile.

Often, the lowest price amp in the range uses Power ICs.

I THINK ( Not sure ) the cheapest Yamaha has Power ICs. The next in the rage onwards, uses discrete power transistors..

Thanx. I am planning to get the Wharfedale SW-150 sub with the Diamonds.
Is there much difference between the 9.1 and 9.2??

I would go for the 9.2.
