For around 100K INR (plus a little change) they don't look too bad.

I can see quality components all over. WIMA caps, Alp motorised volume pot, Copper Speaker Binding posts, IRF MOSFETS, relays for source selection, beefy PSU, heat sinking and that lovely calibrated Volume knob.

If it looks nice, it should sound nice. Well mostly

I keep seeing users at Audio Asylum singing praises of them all the time. The v6i at 150 watts/channel sells for around 1300 dollars (street price) and is pretty popular.It weighs in at about 70 pounds and build like a tank. And they are all Hyper Class A…(what is hyper class A ?) I wonder how they sound. I wonder how they do it at this price point……..

I think it is a OEM (MIC) for Mark Levinsons Red Rose products and they were introduced in singapore/HK as Korsun. their V6 was pretty good

I am guessing here, but hyper class A seems to be a marketing ploy and most probably would be AB with a high Class a bias

Is there any connection with the DK Design group? I remember reading somewhere they are done by the same people.

Looks like shallow Class A operation. First few watts in Class A then moving over to Class AB at higher levels. Sensible thing actually.

Just guessing.

S.gigiji,
thats what i meant by the following in my post..does it mean something else ?

Yes same same Glass half full or half empty

But its more than just marketing ploy. I dont think any Class A amp stays Class A through the power delivery range.

A brief explanation for those interested .......

CLASS A refers to a mode of operation where the amplifying device ( Transistor or tube ) nevers runs out of current ( ie current thru the decive never falls to zero, and the device never switches off )

The reason is that the device, if it switches off, will take some finite time to once again 'Switch On' and the time lag causes a 'dead time' and distortion.

The Simple equation

Power = Current x current X Impedance

can determine the amount of current required to deliver the rated output current. As an example, a 100 Watt amplifier, feeding an 8 Ohm resistive load will need12.5 Amperes per channel, RMS .

Lets say that an amplifier is designed to deliver a Peak Current of 20 Amperes to the speakers.

A CLASS A amplifier is ten designed so that the Output devices continiously carry atleast 20 Amperes of current. Say 21 Amperes so that the output devices never run out of current.

CLASS AB : Here the output devices carry only a small amount of current say: about 50 mili Amperes ( 1,000 milli amperes = 1 ampere ).

When the speakers demand more current, this is drawn from the power supply, as required.

An amplifier biased higher into class A, may be set for a continious current draw of say 1 Ampere or even 5 amperes.

the 'Hyper Bias' scheme refered to, the Dussun amp is a SLIDING BIAS configuration, Not a Class AB with a higher standing current.

What sliding bias does is to establish a constant bleed current through the transistors... say 1 ampere ( No Idea what Dussun have set ).

ADDITIONAL current will be drawn from the Power supply, on demand.

Hence if the Speaker were to demand 10 amperes, :

The Class AB Amp will draw 10 amperes

The Dussun will draw 10 + 1 ampere.

The 1 ampere is a 'saftey margin' to ensure that the output transistors never run dry.

Hope this is helpful

Correction buddy amp_nut.....
For a 100 wpc amp feeding a 8 ohm resistive ohm, the current required would be around 3.5 amp and not 12.5 amp.
100 = 3.5 x 3.5 x 8 approx

Thanks Abhi Pani.

You R a whiz !

It should have been square root of 12.5 = 3.5

Cheers
