Any One using nordost ICs and speaker wires ? I would be particularly interested to know the experience of using Blue Heaven and Red Dawn I/C and speaker wire.
I have used BH and Red dawn ICs only and i feel that though with them , the overall presentation are not having a lot of body , but it is more natural and neutral. The human voices and instruments sound are least colored. I have started liking them.

if that is the case then this thread can get very very dangerous . given the subjectivity and theoretical knowledge abounding on cables you are going to get comments which will make you doubt that very statement.

it might also make you question your choice of music, your equipment as well as your ears

kidding aside, I use Blue heaven ICs as well and find nothing wrong with them to make me feel like replace them.

binoy. I tried Blue heaven version II spk cable bet'n my krell & dyne. I didn't like the sound, it was detailed, transparent but LEAN. I've not tried their Red Dawn IC yet, it's available with one of my friend, let me try

I can tell you about Nordost solar wind and red dawn in a couple of systems.
Same as what ALS described, Lean. Lack of body is very much evident with the solar wind. Red dawn is better but still sounds lean to me. Some may like it. A friend has a red dawn for sale. He is using Murthy’s reference cable now. If you want to check it out, Pm me.
BTW: Nordost is an acquired taste. It has got a good fan following. If you like it why change ?

Did you try any other Cables ? i.e. Cables from other stables ? What is the rest of your chain ?

I have never owned Nordost, but have done some experimenting with them.

From many of the 'main stream' audio cable manufacturers I feel that Nordost is a serious Cable maker. Makes its cables in the USA. I know for a fact that Transparent has its cables made in Taiwan from Neotech or one of its subsidiaries - DC Cable etc.

Very few cable makers actually make their own cable. Most of them get them made [OE] from China / Taiwan etc.

Hence, I respect Nordost.

I like their Valhalla & Odin Cables. Although Odin I only heard in a show and not in my house, so I do not want to comment on it. Even the SMP Reference was a great cable !!

i think they procure the cables from Taiwan and then add the sheathing and their "Magic Network Box" at their factory !

they have used trickle down tech quite well into their entry level cables as well. and what i like best about them is that their impedence values are all Published.

Yes ARJ !

Transparent Trickles its technology down;
That is a good thing.

However, I do not fancy the cable.
It soulds good, but the ones that sound good are way too expensive !!!!
The entry level cables are just not worth the money.

Hallo Bhagwan69,

Before using Nordost , I have used VdH 1st ultimate , Vdh the second ,VdH 102MkIII,Transparent music link plus, Kimber Timbre , Kimber Hero etc.
The sound from a few cables especially VdHs were bloated on my system (Quad 909 with passive axiom Pre), which might be a liking for the people who want to hear Tubey sound.I have sold all my VdH cables. Some cable like Transparent gave too much emphasis (sort of loudness) to the low frequency and the mid range with rolled of high as if some steroid has been taken by amp.
Nordost,s sound on the other hand is plane , little thinner , more like the normal voice that we hear.Strings also appear to sound natural . They are very dynamic and give a very tight bass out of my Quad 909 , which is otherwise not known for a very tout bass.It appears that they have slight emphasis on upper mid range and treble region , which makes the music more lively.Right now I am using Blue Heaven (taken for demo) between source and Pre and a red dawn between Pre and Power.
Has any body used two red dawns ICs (between source and Pre as well as b/w Pre and Power)? Further I would like to know member's vew about Blue Heaven vs Red Dawn also
