Hi,

Even I'm looking at having the receiver and speakers ( 5.1 )
within the same budget < 35K for HT system.

Please advice

The budget is a little less at around 45 you should be able to get a entry level dvd player, receiver, speaker.
For 35 there are some HTIB packages from Onkyo, Sony. You could also try a combo of a Yamaha/HK/Denon + Indian made speakers like Lithos, Sonodyne.

Thanks Vinod.

I just started the search on this a few days
back and I have come across the following options.

1. AVR 1404 with H-314 speakers. I shall take 2 tower
speakers for the time being and later shall add 3 more
speakers to it.

2. JBL esc xcite

3. Onkyo HTS-570

4. YAMAHA RX V 350 with space speakers and sub.

Looking out for more options. I would love a system which
gives a good combination of Home Theatre experience and
Stereo for music.

thanks a bunch.

Go either for HK or Azur, both of them are great on both HT and stereo. I think HK would be better for HT. Also take a look at the HK AVR230 which is priced at 32k and is a 6.1 setup and better features than the HK AVR130 which you have seen at 26k.

i agree with Abhi.
though i have'nt heard the newer H/K models i have heard the previous models more than a couple of times and they are just too good. they are a much better choice than the entry level denon and yamaha. the onkyos are good but i found them to be underpowered for my tastes(501,601 models). however, the avr230 seems to come loaded with all the bells and whistles. its definitely worth a look.
i don't know abt cambridge audio receiver. have'nt heard one , yet. as abhi so rightfully points out if u are in for the long haul the 230 is a way better deal than the 130.

I feel cambridge is way better than HK as they are not what they used to be before.............

Prithvi once told me that I might find the Azur a bit laid back for HT, but it is too good for stereo.
So I suggest look at both HK and Azur, I havent yet seen the Azur so cant give direct comments

the problem with HK audition in bangalore is they use over pompous JBL speakers and try to impress you with loud bangs.....maybe blow away the skirt of a spotty 16 yr old girl , but when it comes to performance.I have second thoughts about the combination....c'mon guys HK's deserve better speakers....

I do beg to differ with Sub Boss

depends on which JBL speakers..their northridge series as well as S series rate higher than Wharfedale diamond to me for HT use..especially as they are much more dynamic as well as detail oriented.

only problem is that they are bright sounding hence may need some sort of tone adjustment..but on the other hand they are very sensitive (90+db) hence even low power receivers can get them to bring down the walls !

most of there Floorstnders go down to 35 hz hence it is even possible to do without a sub due to their high sensitivity !

Also HKs being slightly warmer amps do tend to do well with JBLs

i would love to audition if they use the Northridge series.....but they use the other low-end JBL stuff...yes northridge is awesome and I have seen some flexing their muscles with just 40W amplification and lovely detailing...
and i meant pompous in the context of the 'JBL the best' of sales guy attitude and not the top line North series....No offences meant to Northridge series lovers.............I too love them......esp the 90 and 100....love to own them
