I need some advice. I know nothing about any of this so be kind. I've had some renovation done to my house. I had a set of speakers put in my new kitchen ceiling and a set in the dining room ceiling. Also put 2 out on the deck. My existing receiver is a JVC 180 watt with Bose Accoustimass 3 system (2 book shelf speakers and the base box thing- yes it's all old.)
Anyway, do I need to buy a more powerful receiver to work all 8 speakers at the same time? It only has connections for 4 speakers anyway. I have no idea what the ceiling speakers brand or watts is and I can't seem to get them to budge from the ceiling to find out. The outdoor speakers are Bose 151 SE Environmental speakers.

Currently, even if I have 4 speakers on, only two seem to be getting full power when all four are on.

As I said, I don't know much of anything about this so if I need to give you more info, let me know.

thanks!

Hi,

Why do you want all the speakers to work at the same time?

Don't want to sound facetious, but, you can't be in all places at the same time...

Also, how have you wired them currently?

get urself a monster 4 pair spk selector, it will work with ur amp. You can also switch on all four pairs or any one. the impedance is matched at all times so no damage is done to ur amp. Mind you, you will lose a lot of clarity. Did the same thing for a customer long back, but he was happy with the quality, sadly I was not.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I'm thinking about parties and people being in different rooms and outside. The electrician ran all the wires into the cabinet housing my receiver but the receiver only has connections for 4 speakers. The other wires are just there unconnected.

Monster 4? Is that a brand name or a piece of equipment? It will have connections for all the speakers with a,b,c,d switches or something like that? 180 watt receiver will do the job? I think I'm like your customer- I will be happy with just about any sound.

IF you want music all loud and everywhere your receiver will fry with all those speakers consult a good professional with sound---sound knowledge....your electrician sees this from a diffrent angle and puts wires everywhere he knows nothing.Your present amp will fry so you'll need a good amp with multi zone output.
