only surround sound decoder standalone? anybrands dealing that?

i just want surround sound deocoders just i need 5.1 dolby, dts etc...not many formats...

what is the cost of the product ? i know highends like rotels etc, but i need some midend ones like in the HK or marantz or so any idea regarding this?

yamaha built stuff like that, but not anymore. sometimes you find them on ebay..
as far as I know, at least on the european market, there are no midend-devices for this. that leaves:

-dvd player, but naturally only if just wanted for dvds..
-pc-soundcard

maybe someone else knows something more..

I agree with Dipak. It is best to go with a CD player with decent audio DACs and having dolyby decoders built in. Surprisingly, Samsung and even LG has some good models in this category.

Many low end universal players however tend to have more focus on the video section. So you may have to check reviews and audition before making your buy.

What would qualify as mid end products. Would 10K rupees qualify as mid end or low end? Prices vary greatly with DAC quality and features?

nad's classic line should be pretty affordable in price and would have good audio dacs, the nad silver line range would be expensive...rotels will be pricey...
