Problem with BLR post office

Off-late the custom's clearance is BLR post office has become a major hassle. Except if your package comes via EMS Speedpost, you can be certain the package will be either damaged...or you will be made to run around for weeks.

I just got my turntable belt that i had ordered from UK....the package was opended....and the belt was cut into two pieces !! This cannot be done accidentally.

Few months back, i had ordered some hi-5 CDs for my kids from Australia and it never reached me. All though the online tracking says the pacakage was received by Indian postal service in Mumbai.

In my last shippment i got from Spain ...the expensive Mullard ECC88 tubes were broken as they had been removed from the package and dropped on the floor.

Cannot explain in words...the attitude of these goverment employees !!!

Do think twice before getting anything to BLR through postal service. It's very frustrating ..

I ve had the exact same problem with a laptop battery that is still not in and a digital amp that has disappeared.

insisting on a Fedex/UPS etc even at a higher cost is the only option

Correct;

I use UPS / Fedex [not DHL & TNT] for my 'small' packages.
Yes, it is very very expensive - but at least the goods arrive - safe & fast.
Just got in a 19 kg parcel from Japan [power products] and it arrived 'safe'

I have had a lot of problems with EMS [customs guys are difficult to 'tackle'] & regular post takes too long & the 'apraisers' are just 'slow'
I used to use the post a lot - CD Purchase - must have got in 1.5 K +++ CD's this way - but the frequency was so much that they [apraisers] had gotten to know me & my 'setting' was in place - the work used to get done on the phone.

But yes, this is a big big problem.

Siva, if I may suggest.
Open a courier company account & ask your shipper to send the foods in or by courier using your 'account' it is 60 % cheaper than 'published' rates & goods come fast & customs gets done & delivered home - no hassle.

This is what I do now. There are always small things one needs and they have to be imported !!!
